Hi I don't have 9i to test, but I believe you might be able to set O7_DICTIONARY_ACCESSIBILITY = TRUE in init.ora and then you should be able to connect as sys without specifying sysdba. This might be suitable for the upgrade - certainly test it out on a test system first. Regarding the

Rather, why do you want to connect as SYS ? If you've created some custom tables in the SYS schema in an earlier version, create another user, connect as SYS in sqlplus, GRANT privileges to that user and connect as that new user in Forms. -- and think about migrating the tables out of the SYS
