Saminathan: Try setting the REMOTE_LOGIN_PASSWORDFILE = TRUE. Before bouncing the database, create the password file with the orapasswd utility and assign a password. Then in the database, alter the SYS userid to use the same password as in the file. Then bounce the database. Then try sqlplus
