If there're already hints like ordered and use_nl that tell Oracle how to join,
lack of statistics is less of a problem. In fact, you may need to use those two
hints in some queries against data dictionary even in pre-9i Oracle.

I'm on thin ice here, but I think KO means some sort of object layer (KOC is

If you don't mind messing up a datafile, you could copy junk over an index
datafile. Then use the index in a query. We had a corrupt index that
always generated an ORA-600.

I successfully installed designer 6i and configured a
repository owner. I was trying to use the 6i for
tutorial, so I imported the tutorial application
system. In the middle of the import, I got ORA 600,
see the attachment.
Anybody knows what's going on? (oracle 9i on Win2000

Hi,
I'm working on Oracle 8.1.7.2 , AIX 4.3.3 and haven't got any problems...
had a lot before the patch, but not ORA-600.
I suggest you apply the patch and monitor the instance.
Hope this helps!

Since someone recently reported that the new Metalink ORA-600 lookup
facility didn't work so good for them, I thought I'd like to report my
results. One of my developers trying to connect to Oracle 9i, using the thin
driver received the error code:

I installed 9.0.1 on to my Win2K machine yesterday, and whilst installing an
un-named monitoring tool against it this morning, the instance crashed with
a bunch of ORA-600's in the alert log. Below are the two that appeared,
though the first turned up about 10 times

Mark,
Here are a couple of notes I saved on the subject

rmjvm.sql doesnot remove all the components properly. If your resources sizes are ok, then try following.
If for any reason the installation fails then $ORACLE_HOME/javavm/install/rmjvm.sql

Couple of days ago I have a ORA-600 [26599], it was being signaled during
our periodic recompilation cron job. It turned out to be that a clever
duheveloper had a hard new line character in an object name. Once we took it
out, the error went away. This happened in 9012.
