You are not saying what environment you are using. I do not think

I use yasr frequently but mostly with plain bash to run command line
programs. The only curses application I use regularly with yasr is
mocp to play audio files. Also it is useful to diagnose problems
with emacspeak when it loses speech. I had little luck
with other applications. I would

The only thing I found out of the ordinary was dropping to a command
prompt from YASR and then starting emacspeak. Emacspeak spoke each
line twice as I scrolled down the page.
Once emacspeak is loaded, you will have to disable yasr.
