The time from flask to flowering for a Paph. rothschildianum will
depend a lot on the parents of the flask. Some parents are very good
at producing seedlings that will rapidly grow and bloom, while others
seem to insure a very reluctant grower and bloomer. I find that
seedlings with Paph.

I do not grow many phrags, but for what it is worth, I had a
Phrag. Eric Young which would regularly bloom with the first flower having no
petals, but the rest of the flowers being just fine. It got to the point that
I just ignored the first one, as I knew the next one would be just fine.
