Offspring and progeny?
Using a human analogy, could it be that 'progeny' are descendents of parents
including the children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and so on,
whereas 'offspring' are specifically the immediate 'progeny'; the children
of them? Maybe there's a more subtle difference
