Heidi Saul - thanks so much for sharing your story about doing a large Open
Space on QiQo last Friday night. Because it was midnight here in Perth, Western
Australia, I've just watched the recording. I am feeling very excited about the
possibilities of OST in QiQo. Might need to be in touch
I posted a few weeks ago about the use of Open Space at an Anglican Church
gathering (Synod) in Brisbane, Australia, involving 400 people. The following
links provide some positive public feedback from those who attended.
News article from Brisbane Synod:
A few weeks ago Brendan McKeague and Michael Wood co-facilitated what might be
the largest ever Open Space in Australia (certainly with a church group) when
the Anglican Diocese of Brisbane took the step of hosting most of the first day
of Synod (the annual large gathering of representatives of
Thought I'd share this podcast on my experience of using OST in church
leadership.

I am facilitating an Open Space soon for the Anglican Diocese of Perth soon.
One of the sponsors made a two minute youtube invitation to accompany the
written invitation which was being emailed. I think it's really good and
thought I's share it with you. If the OSLIST mucks up the formatting
Hi Open Spacers,
I want to collect a few stories from people who have facilitated conferences
in Open Space. This might be an entire conference beginning to end OR a partial
conference (for example, where a day of OST was added at the end of a more
traditional conference design).

Just when I think that everything in going a bit quiet on the OST front (in
terms of interest), some new youtube clips show up.
You know how occasionally we need an 'elevator pitch'? (Harrison has one
sitting in the back of a taxi I believe). Here are a couple of animated ones I

Lovely testimony here to the power of OST, in the context of creativity. Brett
Wood is my brother and he is based in Sydney.
The section of the podcast specifically related to OST is at 56 minutes and 30
seconds through to 1 hour and 8 seconds. You can fast forward to that point if

For information for OSLIST folks in Australia, I am offering some Open Space
training for church leaders in the Anglican Diocese of Melbourne 18-19 July. I
leave public trainings to the Melbourne folks but I am an Anglican priest and
this is an in-house job for the Anglican church.

I'd be interested in hearing from anyone on this list who is either doing work
with OST in churches in the UK, or knows of anyone who is, or who is interested
in doing so.
This is a primary interest of mine in Australia. I will be visiting the UK next
January and am wondering what's happening
John, thankyou for this post on OSLIST about the meeting in Haiti. I have
passed it to some engineers at my university whose passion is doing grassroots
collaboration with communities. They will find this story encouraging.

I think that powerful questions are usually 'short' and invite invite/enable
'future possibility' (as opposed to problem solving).
Ask the question and then shut up (rather than getting nervous and trying to
rephrase the question when we get confronted with silence). We have be patient

A few years ago I was invited by a learning and development company to

'New Business Development ideas for..'x' company'.
It was an incredibly creative and fun weekend in which many ideas were floated

What's twitter?
But...to be more serious, I don't want or need another communications platform.
So you twitterers go for it, but I hope the email feed continues too, for
longer and deeper exploration of things

Yeah - I'm a regular - on and off for about 10 years. Facilitating (and
teaching) OST regularly/professionally. OST is great - and so is this little
on-line community.
