THOR might be a good alternative, but the A* algorithm OsmAnd uses is just
fine.
I agree that OSRM is too limited due to its inflexibility.
It is the implementation of the A* algorithm in OsmAnd that is wrong (from
my point of view). OsmAnd is literally the only app that uses a heuristic
Does anyone know if this works in the latest incarnations of the software.
I've tried it but with no luck so was wondering if this was dead and buried.
Up to a year ago there were rumours that you could get text instructions
sent to your watch but I've not got even this working.

Moved data to external memory which did the trick and allowed me to find
the tracks directory where I can put my gpx files :)
Now my next problem is getting OSM to send notifications to my Pebble
smartwatch so when I'm cycling I can be notified of the next turn.
This I can't get working but
OsmAnd needs a new routing engine because of bad performance. Graphhopper
and OSRM do not fulfill the requirements because they don't support
conditional edge-weights at query-time*. THis is necessary to support
options like avoid highways and so on without the need for a separate

announcement via text-to-speech? Something like "Speed Reduction in 500
meters" (quarter of a mile, etc). Then the person driving need not look so
much at the device. Of the three countries I've driven in, the road
The "\osmand\rendering." is the "old" storage location as used by earlier
versions of OsmAnd.
Now that you did a new install, OsmAnd switched to the current (pre android
6.x that is) installation path which is "Android\data\net.
osmand.plus\files".
Simply copy that GPXR08.render to the new
The issue that you describe might be due to Android 6.x. See also

help otapi (without success).
So you can try to move your installed OsmAndto another location the same
way as I descrived in those posts.
