but after restarting Osmand there's absolutely no effect (the file is on the
right place, because when i put a syntax error in it, Osmand crashes
immediatedly after start).
What am i doing
I know about that option and intentionally did not mention it.
It is often adviced against downloading the file directly from the master
GitHub branch,
That is indeed easier and faster.
As it can occasionally cause OsmAnd to crash or behave strangely, if the
file version is not backward
A bit shorter and a bit more precise :)
1) Don't touch OsmAnd.
2) Download the routing.xml from the OsmAnd github:
https://github.com/osmandapp/OsmAnd-resources/blob/master/routing/routing.xml
3) Change line 375:
https://github.com/osmandapp/OsmAnd-resources/blob/master/routing/routing.xml#L375
Thanks for the tip!

In short,
1) download from OsmAnd site the .APK installation file for your OsmAnd+
version
2) optionally rename it to .ZIP
3) open the archive and extract from it routing.xml file
4) edit the coefficient

2GB working memory or better for longer car navigation. 1GB for cycling and
hiking.
Screen resolution is also important. OsmAnds rendering is not the fastest
but Osmands maps are (by far) the most detailed ones. That takes time to
render.

That's why I strongly recommend you go with a device that's supported by
LineageOS: they keep providing new releases *much* longer than the
original manufacturer.

You
Thanks to all for your help.
The main reason for buying a new phone is: More and more apps are now
longer supported by android 4.3. Current
timetable data, that are given as updates are no longer available.
OsmAnd was the only app with performance problems. It is not funny, to miss
a turn when
On Sony Z1 compact (2 GB RAM) — works fast.
On Lenovo Tab 4 (2 GB RAM) — works not so fast as on Z1 but comfortable.
On old Motorola Atrix 2 (1 GB RAM) — works very slow, with hangs, with
crashes, sometimes reboot device.

I use a Samsung S5, which dates back to the same era (and both come
with 2GB of RAM) and Osmand runs fine in it, including navigation.

Hard to say, but a modern device with 3G of ram and a 64-bit arm chip

Hello,
OsmAnd runs very slow at my old jelly beans phone. I will buy a new one.
How much RAM and storage and how many cores with which frequency is needed
to achieve a good performance for OsmAnd?
Best regards,
Klaus
