I have a feeling that "fire from a fiber cut" email was a bit of snark
(playing on the usual evasive answers you get about many outages) and
not meant to be taken seriously.

But who knows? My cynicism filter might be set a little high this afternoon.

[outages] Packet loss between C-Link and Cogent

2018-02-01 Thread Jeff Shultz via Outages
We are experiencing consistent packet loss, from 15% to 25% between
CenturyLink and Cogent. The loss appears to be between these two
systems:

be3142.ccr41.sjc03.atlas.cogentco.com (154.54.1.194) 20 msec
sjp-brdr-06.inet.qwest.net (63.235.41.117) 24 msec 23 msec 24 msec

I am on the Cogent side of this connection and can ping 154.54.1.194
without loss. I immediately get packet loss pinging 63.235.41.117.

It's playing havoc with some customer VPNs.

Is anyone else seeing this?

If anyone from Cogent or CenturyLink is on the list, can you take a look at it?

Thanks!

Jeff Shultz
