Hi Ken, as a part of my recent DC upgrade, I did make a small move to

Hi Ian and others,
I installed Media Monkey free edition on my DC (because it's so
under-utilised) and let it scan all of the mp3 files and build its database.
I'm actually quite impressed and I think I've unconsciously decided that it
will be my new jukebox player, displacing WMP. It has an
Ken, in future I will consider making everything virtual where reasonably
possible. I didn’t want to waste a complete Windows OS just to be a host, but
as I said, the stripped down Win2008 was too hard to drive and I didn’t have
time to experiment with Linux Virtual Box. So the easy decision
with WMP v12 and Windows 7.

Hi Ken, I wasn't very clear, but strangely enough, my old Win2003 DC was my
jukebox, not a client machine. It did nothing all day, so I used the vast

I would like to thank the academy for my nomination.
I'm so honoured that I'm using Times New Roman to create the impression of a
formal occasion. I'd like to use a 16pt font with elegant curls on it like a
wedding invitation, but it probably won't display in most email readers.
However, I

Ben, Ian,
It’s a shame that WMP doesn’t put the ratings in the ID3 tags. I wonder if it
puts them in the metadata of WMA files. All of my jukebox files are mp3 files
with nicely managed ID3 tags, so I had a look inside one of my 5-star songs and
there is no ratings frame (or ‘popularity’

Yep, it's the real Greg Keogh :)
Damn, I must get a new thesaurus.

Your domain level has nothing to do with your version of Windows Media Player.
I suppose you could say that the OS you are running WMP on is the issue. But
most organisations have their Domain Controllers and client machines separate,
and upgrading the domain (i.e. replacing the DCs) has no

I'd just like to interject here with a public announcement. I'd like to
announce the presentation of our newly created Drama Queen award to our
poor unsuspecting Greg Keogh.
I think everyone here will agree that Greg is the deserving recipient of
this highly prestigious award.
