Just letting everyone know the SA birth happened early (SROM) and labour
started quite well, mum seemed great. BUT... it quickly became very full on
and I couldn't believe it was exactly what I had read about.
Huge learning curve and I am kicking myself for not realizing sooner that it
was going

Just think of the 1 in 4 woman who have experienced some form of
assault/abuse.
I soldier on knowing that 1-2-1 midwifery care would make such a huge
difference to these women, as it did me.

the icm and quoted one hospital where i worked abt 500, 000 bucks to set up
three rooms with their machines and the midwives station desk etc (of course the
true costs only came out when we dragged it out of them). i wondered what

It seems to me that the medical treatment for this woman was
fairly appropriate but the communication (or lack of!) wasn't! I'm
surprised that she was "allowed" to go home.There's still nothing that
beats a midwife's hand on a woman's tummy to actually feel if she is contracting
well that certainly blows out of the water the
argument that intermittent auscultation cant be done
because the staff dont have time. how many extra MWs
could be employed for one to one care with an extra
half a million??
