no. the proper solution would be a MPlayer that does not require
libBasicUsageEnvironment.so.1()(64bit) as this library is not available in
current TW anymore, by rebuilding it like vlc-noX just was.

[packman] TW20230129: unmet dependecies on VLC and MPlayer

2023-01-31 Diskussionsfäden Mathias Homann
Hi,

trying to install gmplayer and vlc on tumbleweed 20230129 isn't possible due
to dependency issues:

mio:~ # tumbleweed status
latest : 20230129
target : 20230129
installed: 20230129
mio:~ # zypper in vlc-noX gmplayer
Loading repository data...
Reading installed packages...
Resolving package dependencies...
2 Problems:
Problem: nothing provides 'libBasicUsageEnvironment.so.1()(64bit)' needed by
the to be installed vlc-noX-3.0.18-7.6.x86_64
Problem: nothing provides 'libBasicUsageEnvironment.so.1()(64bit)' needed by
the to be installed MPlayer-1.2.r38304-2.66.x86_64

Problem: nothing provides 'libBasicUsageEnvironment.so.1()(64bit)' needed by
the to be installed vlc-noX-3.0.18-7.6.x86_64
Solution 1: do not install vlc-noX-3.0.18-7.6.x86_64
Solution 2: break vlc-noX-3.0.18-7.6.x86_64 by ignoring some of its
dependencies

TW20230129 has newer versions of libBasicUsageEnvironment:

mio:~ # zypper se -s UsageEnvironment
Loading repository data...
Reading installed packages...

S | Name | Type| Version| Arch | Repository
--+---+-++
+--
  | libBasicUsageEnvironment2 | package | 2023.01.19-1.1 | x86_64 |
download.opensuse.org-oss
  | libBasicUsageEnvironment2 | package | 2023.01.19-1.1 | i586 |
download.opensuse.org-oss
  | libUsageEnvironment3 | package | 2023.01.19-1.1 | x86_64 |
download.opensuse.org-oss
  | libUsageEnvironment3 | package | 2023.01.19-1.1 | i586 |
download.opensuse.org-oss

I guess vlc and mplayer need to be rebuilt?

Cheers

Think not.

You're actually proving *my* point here: the original youtube-dl has
seen *three* commits since the middle of the summer, and two of them
were documentation. The fork yt-dlp has seen 29 commits only in the last
three days, and two actual releases since the middle of december - looks
much more active to me, especially when you remember how active the
original youtube-dl used to be, with sometimes more than one release per
day.

Do you think it would make sense to do the same for Multimedia/youtube-dl?

I managed to solve this by listing all rpm keys with

rpm -q gpg-pubkey --qf '%{name}-%{version}-%{release} --> %{summary}\n'

and then removing the packman key with

sudo rpm -e gpg-pubkey-

afterwards, I removed the Packman repo, re-added it and got a new key
trust prompt.
Once i accepted that, I could install packages from packman again
without this key error showing up,

That did it.

Without removing the packman repo:
"rpm -e gpg-pubkey-1abd1afb-54176598 && zypper cc --all && zypper ref"
also gets you a new trust prompt.

[packman] does packman have a new key or what is going on?

2021-10-27 Diskussionsfäden Mathias Homann
Hi,

I just got a ton of updated packages from packman on tumbleweed 20211025 and
with every package zypper gave me a NOKEY warning but installed it all the
same...

now, when I run something like "rpm -Vvv vlc-codec-gstreamer" I see the same
NOKEY warning appear:
D: read h# 68693
Header V4 RSA/SHA1 Signature, key ID 1abd1afb: NOKEY
Header SHA256 digest: OK
Header SHA1 digest: OK
D: read h# 68693
Header V4 RSA/SHA1 Signature, key ID 1abd1afb: NOKEY
Header SHA256 digest: OK
Header SHA1 digest: OK

but that key is installed:
kumiko:~ # rpm -qa gpg-pubkey\*|grep 1abd1afb
gpg-pubkey-1abd1afb-54176598

what is going on?

Cheers
MH

[packman] Unable to install discord on tumbleweed

2021-10-13 Diskussionsfäden Mathias Homann

Hi guys,

the discord package from packman can't be installed on a current TW:

mio:~ # zypper in discord
Loading repository data...
Reading installed packages...
Resolving package dependencies...

Problem: nothing provides 'libc++1' needed by the to be installed
discord-0.0.16-62.1.x86_64

Solution 1: do not install discord-0.0.16-62.1.x86_64
Solution 2: break discord-0.0.16-62.1.x86_64 by ignoring some of its
dependencies

Choose from above solutions by number or cancel [1/2/c/d/?] (c):

mio:~ # tumbleweed status
latest : 20211008
target : 20211008
installed: 20211008

the same thing actually happens with the discord packages from TW
itself, see

https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1191555

My uneducated guess is the update to LLVM13 - I guess discord themselves
have to release updated binaries, or the source code so packagers can
build it properly?

Cheers

no. I have been told in no uncertain terms that such automation is not wanted

the cronjob runs on my host at home, twice per day, and basically checks if
the sources used in the most recent version on PMBS are still current - and if
not it updates them locally and resubmits to PMBS.

Actually, on openSUSE /usr/bin/python should be handled by update-
alternatives; if you don't have it it looks as if at some point the package
that provides whatever the link was pointing at was uninstalled with --
noscript...

It depends on how much one "needs" youtube-dl. Video portals change all the
time, so youtube-dl gets updated sometimes more than once per day... if a build
is "a few days" behind it could actually just cease to work at all, in which
case thr users should install from source and run youtube-dl -U manually
anyways.

the youtube-dl package on OBS gets manually updated whenever their maintainer
feels like it. Seeing how there is support for new video sites added almost
weekly that just does not cut it.

I had the package on PMBS get updated automatically when necessary, but they
have changed the website layout upstream, so right now that does not work
anymore. I'll see what I can do to get that back to work before deleting the
package.

According to the changelog in the gstreamer package from Essentials, *NOTHING*

On pmbs it turns out that the package is just a link to

bauen schon mal sparen ;)

Yes, this is all on purpose.

The problem is that kdenlive doesn't work properly with dvdauthor 0.7.x
So until this is fixed upstream (by the kdenlive developers), I decided
to also package the old dvdauthor 0.6.x (as dvdauthor0_6) and have a
 hard Requires: dvdauthor0_6 in kdenlive.

 dvdauthor0_6 conflicts with dvdauthor, indeed.

So what you have to do is deinstall dvdauthor.

Huh, doesnt make sense. Try to upgrade kde4-kdenlive instead, and then
remove dvdauthor as one of the installation options.

already tried any number of possible combinations.

i can EITHER have dvdauthor0_6 + k9copy, or dvdautho + kdenlive (which does

  any fixes?

There is a package rpmkey-packman in repository.

that's not the point.
the point is that zypper can, and will, fetch the appropriate key from within
the repository. BUT for this to work it can only be ONE key, not more than
one.
OBS (which from what i understand is the underlying build environment) does
exatly that: it signs all packages with the same key.
So, if there are packages in packman that are signed with a different key,
they HAVE to be from a different source... which might not be trustworthy.
After all, that's what signing packages is all about.

[packman] how can i become a packman contributor?

2009-10-16 Diskussionsfäden Mathias Homann
Hey guys,

I'd like to become a packman contributor.
Right now I'm building on opensuse build service, but I'm heading towards some
packages that have are pretty unlikely to be included in openSUSE at any point
in time...

my stuff:
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:lemmy04 and
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:lemmy04:snowglobe

 Hi Toni,

 I just installed kde4-kdenlive on a OS 11.1 w/ KDE 4.2.4 / 3.5.10
 (Zypper log at http://nopaste.com/p/aY76xaLdH)
Seems there is no dependency to the package MLT. I tried to start
kdenlive, but I was asked for the configuration files at
 /usr/share/mlt (path did not exist).
After zypper in mlt kdenlive works correctly.

 Is this known?

related is this known question, is it known to whoever maintains the
packman kdenlive package that kdenlive 0.7.5 has been released quite
some time ago by now?

 Hallo Meik Piepmeyer,

Das war gestern schon auf der liste, henne hats mit will be fixed
shortly geantwortet...

und nu?
