Strangely enough I installed power dvd before I discovered win media player
9 used powerDVD's info to bolster itself. So basically install power dvd
then go back to media player you will still find it more accessible than
PDVD by itself.

Yes, CDEX can rip CD tracks separately (this is the default
behaviour) and it can keep tracks together (which you have to select from a
menu).
As for CDs, none of the programs you mention will do DVD ripping, to
