This is jitter and will be caused by either a dodgy disc or a dodgy CD-ROM.

I don't know but they probably can if you have the right codex installed.
I've had good luck with WMA and their lossless format so I haven't installed
CDEX on the new machine yet.

I never could figure out what to do, so I used real player until I bought
winamp pro. Of course, you could always uninstall and reinstall. It would
probably work, but it would also be extremely tedious.

I noticed an option in WMP to do error correction while ripping. Try that
and tell us if it makes a difference. I haven't had any trouble so far with
the default setting, which is off. But, I was thinking I should turn it on.
