most of the options you'd want to set can already be accessed in the various

Re: MP4 with jaws?

2004-05-06 Thread Gary Wood
Hi Bruce. That could be true. I've heard that with MP3 files, the quality
can vary, because the bit rates for each song recorded in that format have
bit rates that vary.

The phrase no loss of quality is deceiving. When MP3 came out, 128-bit
was touted as CD-quality. Now, while it is certainly acceptable for
many, no one is saying that it is CD-quality any more. Audio compression
will, I believe, always result in some quality loss: it may be
indiscernible, but there is loss just the same. 128-bit used to be no
quality loss. Now anyone with an ear for sound agrees that there is, of
 course, quality loss.

Hi Andrew, the program will handle all sizes of disks. Look in the lower
right corner and arrow up and you will find out how large your project
is, it will Tel you if you have exceeded your disk space.
If your blind look out for the clear plastic disks that are always in the
stack of disks.

Yes, using GoldWave, you can do unlimited recording. Well, you can record
until your hard drive or resources are full. I believe the keystroke is

option. I figured if I want to rip a movie and will not be using the
computer for much else why not set it to high so it does it faster. I
do like the interface though and yes the options for the most part are
easy to set from the main window which is already visible.

 Cheers.

Re: Roxio 6 question

2004-05-06 Thread Rocker
You can just delete a title or two from your track list before recording.
Generally you can only record up to 17 to 20 songs on an audio disk. That
means no more then 1 hour of music. You can always run the test before
writing disk at once to see if it will burn successfully. You may also have
a faulty cdr.

Hi, it's in the creative screen.
I use window eyes. You can use roxio's program with dvd's as well. The
dvd's hold 4.7 gigabytes.
I think maby your having problems with selecting your files.
The first thing you should do is to make sure your selecting music if your
doing cd's.
tap the alt key arrow down to new then chose music.
When your in the directory use control t to put your file in the list to
be recorded.
  Hope this helps.

Hi Kevin. Thanks for that. It's good to know about all the programs that
you can use to record from tape to computer. I have a lot of cassettes, and
would like to transfer these to computer.

hi, personally unless you actually want to edit stuff, i'd say sound forge
would be a complete waste of money as there's plenty of other programs
which
are either free or very cheap, not too mention a damn site easier to use!!
i
use recall pro personally, about $40 i think these days, and there's a
cheaper version of it too. easy to use and fine for the actual transfer.
you
certainly won't need sound forge or any other expensive software to do the
actual transfer, kind of like nocking a nail in with a pile driver!! if
you

 Soundforge,

streaming with realplayer 10 queery

2004-05-06 Thread kevin and emma
hi, this isn't a major problem more of an irritant. but when listen/watching
streams using realplayer, specifically most common is mlb.tv streams.
occasionally the audio pauses for a second or two, like it's rebuffering,
but it literally lasts a second or two. there's no consistancy as too when
this happens. also, i've no idea if the actual picture glitches at the same
time. it's a 350k stream, i'm on a broadband connection, using win XP. can
someone tell me if there are specific settings within realplayer i should
set in a certain way to get the best audio stream? i can't see the video
stream so i don't care about that, it's the audio quality i'm after! i'm
listening to a game now and there's been no glitches for 3 minutes, until
now, when it paused for about a second and is normal again.

Re: MP3DirectCut Url

2004-05-06 Thread Harry Bassler
Yes, Gary, DirectCut is quite good for audio editing, much faster too.
Here's something I use DirectCut for quite often:
learn the listening time of a large audio MP3 file, like fifty or more
Megabytes;
with SoundForge, it took a good while for the file to be loaded, then get
the time;
DirectCut loads the file instantly shows the total time.
Also, you can advance to any point by using the right arrow, allowing you to
hear the rapid advance just as with an audio cd, displays the Now time.
I still need to try other features but am pressed for time just now as I'm
transferring to a new Gateway Pentium 4, going from WindowsME to XP.
I've uninstalled SoundForge from here will not install it on the XP.
Best wishes,
Harry Bassler

editing and converting midi files

2004-05-06 Thread Allison Mervis
Hi all!
I'm singing at a concert in a few weeks and I am using karaoke music. I disliked the
one karaoke file that came on the CD so I found a good quality midi file that I
liked better. The only problem is that it's too fast. Is there a program out there
that will allow me to slow down the file? And when I've finished with that, how do I
convert it to mp3? Thanks!
