just try changing the m4a extention to mp3. highlite the file. press the f2
key to go into edit mode. now hit the end key. backspace over the m4a and
put in mp3. hit enter and you might get a worning about changing file types.
just say yes. now its an mp3. see if it plays. if it doesn't then
Hi Gary,
If you have GoldWave, you can try this with batch processing.
It's found in the file menu.
I'm not sure if it supports this file type, so you will have to look and
see.
If you don't have GoldWave, then I would do a Google search for:
m4a to mp3

You mentioned that you have goldwave. Can't you make a copy of what comes
through the soundcard? Then clip the beginning.

Hi Dennis,
Simply changing the file extension
does not change the file to that format.
In order to change the format of the file, some type of converter will need
to be used.
GoldWave may be a good tool for this.

Sorry, Dennis, but that doesn't work. When I change the file extension from
m4a to mp3, the file won't play in Winamp. I didn't try editing it (as an
mp3) in Goldwave.
Does anyone else have any other ideas of how I might edit this m4a file?
Thanks.

Do any of the portable digital players play MP4.
And what about .ogg?
Have not heard anything much about developements with that format. Is it
being used by many people?

PC-Audio List Help,
Hi Scott.
There's only really a few standard reasons why this wouldn't work:
1. Your CD player does not play rewritable discs - many older players can't
2. You burned the disc as an MP3 disc and your CD player does not support
these discs - many CD players only play audio CD's though there's
Denis, Peter,
I'll give that a try, and see how it works. Once I've cut off the beginning,
I can save it again as an m4a, using goldwave; can't I? I want to keep the
format the same as the rest of the tracks from this album.
Thanks.

CD rewriteable disks don't always play on some CD players, especially ones
that only play audio CD's!
