Very interesting CD problem

2006-09-25 Thread Jed Barton
Hey guys.
OK, I have a celeron 2.4 ghz machine with 2 gigs of ram, and an sb live
sound card, but a very strange problem is happening.
I put an audio CD in.
I can play it, however, I press B to go through the tracks, and wanted to go
from track 1 to 9.
It took about 45 seconds to get there, and these are 2 to 3 minute songs I'm
scanning through.
Any ideas?
It should never ever take that long to advance through a CD.
Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Jed

CDX is the best one. Just put the CD on the CD ROM, open the program
 CDX.
On the main window, the tracks from the media are all listed start
 selecting/unselecting from there.

Re: AC3 Converter?

2006-09-25 Thread Dana S. Leslie
Googling, the only other version I've found is 0.60b. Is that the version
you're referring to?

And, why would I want to downgrade? As I said, once I got some sighted
assistance to max the gain levels (which were set quite low, by default, for
some reason), 1.01a works quite well, and I don't see why I'd ever want to
lower the gains again. Now, if there were a later version, . . . that might
be different.

Hi,
I actually have a version, looks like maybe 1 or 2 back from yours. I'd
try going back a few versions on the source forge page and try a few of
them to see how they work.

Good luck, and if you can't get it, I'll arrange to attach mine to an
email and send it off to you.

 Hi,
There is a later version of the program that decodes AC3 files for
winamp, it was accessible. I got it from the Winamp Plug-ins site, I
can't remember the name of it.

 I'm continuing to hunt.

 Brandon,

I ran into this same problem, just last week. I haven't found a program
 that
will convert AC3 files to WAV. But I did find winampac3_1_01a.exe, a
 plug-in
that allows Winamp to play AC3s. One word of warning though: when I first
installed the plug-in, I needed sighted assistance to access the
 plug-in's
configuration screen, to adjust the gain levels, so that it played at a
normal volume. Other than that, it works fine.

 If you do come across a converter program, though, please let me know;
 I'd
be interested in trying it, as well.

Listening to internet radio with Pac Mate

2006-09-25 Thread Barry
Greetings to all,
I recently bought a Pac Mate. I have a wireless internet connection which
works fine, however, I haven't been able to get the Windows Media Player in
Pac Mate to play an internet radio stream. When I click on a stream, e.g
one of those from ACB Radio, I get a dialogue which downloads a file, but
then nothing plays.
Can anyone tell me, is it possible to hear internet radio on a Pac Mate? If
so, is there anything particular that I need to do to get it to work?

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Cheers,
Barry.

Hey guys,
Any of you use creator?
I can navigate pretty well, but when I arrow through the tabs like spot
groups and catagories, it says graphic before everything.
Any idea how to turn that off?

Thanks,
Jed

But here's the problem.
When I arrow through the tabs, it's saying graphic, then a number, then the
tab name like catagories tab.
Can I make it not say graphic then the number?
I just wanna hear what the tab is.
Something changed somewhere.
I thought I did it right by changing the graphics to labeled.
Any thoughts?

Thanks,

RE: Station playlist creator and saying graphic

2006-09-25 Thread David Truong
Mate,

It might be a good idea to read your jfw help. If you did you'd realise
that all you have to do to turn graphics announcement off is to go to config
manager and then graphics settings and then change graphics verbosity to
labelled or none. As an alternative and if you don't want these changes
permanent you could use the insert+v to bring up the adjust Jaws verbosity
list box and change the graphics verbosity from there.

Re: downloading music from Usenet news groups

2006-09-25 Thread Richard Claypool
Hi,

You can either use the older version of agent, or you can use binaryboy. I
like binaryboy for downloading, and the author is super nice, but if you
have the older version of agent, there's really no need to use anything
else.

like so many things, it's all in what you like.

 Hello,

If anyone else on this list downloads music from Usenet news
groups, I would be interested to know what program you are using,
especially now since Forte Agent in its present incarnation is
 only minimally accessible.

 Thanks for feedback.

Re: Question about Bit Rates in Streaming

2006-09-25 Thread Richard Claypool
Hi,

Is the station being streamed from your house? If it is, then you probally
don't have enough andwidth to handle a server.

If, however, it's going through a professional server, don't know what the
problem might be?

 Hello List!

I notice that, since I put my internet radio station streaming rate at
128kb/44, I have gotten some drop out when I play the station through my
internet link on my web site and my friend got the same thing. Sounds
great, but drops out for a short period of time.

When you hear or stream the station through my internet link, the music is
played in Real Player. I'm thinking that, maybe, I have Real Player's
connection rate too high. I have it set at DSL/Cable 256-750+ (different
times). The maximum is set the same. Should I chose 56.6kps, even though
I have a DSL connection? I think Real Player's choices go up to T1 or so.

Also, what should I have the setting for a 128k stream? I currently have
the Encoder set at 128k/44. stereo. Is this correct? If not, what should
 it be?

Re: Older Versions of WinAmp

2006-09-25 Thread Chris Skarstad
hi. It's important to tell you guys that even if you downloaded the
older version and tried to access radio stations, you'd not have much
luck. The newer library seems to be what Nullsoft is using, so you
would almost need to have the newer version for the library to be of
any use, if you plan to use it to listen to online radio this is. If
you plan to use it for sorting files and creating bookmarks and
playlists, then it still may be of some use, but not much more than that.
I have the most current version, but I don't use the library hardly
at all. Instead when i want to listen to radio stations on Shoutcast, I go to
http://www.shoutcast.com
and search on the website. It queries the exact same database for
streams that the library does, and it's actually a lot nicer. You
don't even need scripts for it!

older version and tried to access radio stations, you'd not have much
I have the most current version, but I don't use the library hardly
at all. Instead when i want to listen to radio stations on Shoutcast, I go
to
http://www.shoutcast.com
and search on the website. It queries the exact same database for
streams that the library does, and it's actually a lot nicer. You
don't even need scripts for it!

  for
something where the library is still useable.

  TIA

easy cd problem

2006-09-25 Thread Denny Daughters
Hi guys,
Sorry about the cross post. Lately I've tried to have Easy Cd creator 5
merge 2 tracks in to 1 file. It used to work fine. Now it will do a minute or
2 of the first track, then stop. When I tell the program to do each individual
track in a batch, and save each track to it's own file, it works fine. I have
the check button checked that says, merge tracks to one file I'd like to
merge 2 tracks in to one file and resplit them at a slightly different point.
When I put 2 single tracks in to a sound editor, it doesn't merge correctly.
Any suggestions?
Denny
