Re: freeverb with goldwave

2007-08-25 Thread Samuel Wilkins
You have to go into the folder where the zip file was extracted to and
choose the activate win 9X.bat file. If it works, you will get a dialog on
your screen saying registration is complete or something. Then you can go
into goldwave, options, plugins and directX. Check FreeverbX and press enter
on the OK button. You should then restart goldwave.

 Hello List Members,
I have a hole bunch of podcasts.
They're all in the MP3 format.
Just to free up some hard drive space, I am trying to burn these to CD.
I am trying to burn about 15 of them at a time.
But the blank CDs I have are only 223MB.
Do any of you know of any blank CDs that are bigger then 223MB?
 Thinks.

Jensen bluetooth headphones and Skipe?

2007-08-25 Thread Kathy Szinnyey
Hi, smart people! I am just starting to learn about Skipe. I recently
bought a Jensen 212 Bluetooth Universal Headphones and would like to see if
they work with Skipe. I have no clue how to configure these things with the
computer I'm using, just a PC using Windows XP. My computer sees the
headphones, but I can't seem to get sounds to come through the headphones.
So I have to figure that out as well, before I even figure out how to use
Skipe with them. Any help would be much appreciated!

Peace,
Kathy

2007-08-25 Thread Gary G Schindler
Leslie, you should find a tree view with all the folders and files listed that
are
associated with overdrive when you open it. tab around and find them. you have
a
windows explorer type interface. you should be able to use your arrow keas to
open
and close directories and such. connect your Zen Stone to the computer,
highlight
the books you want to transfer and in the file menu, activate the transfer
wizard.
that is all you need do.

For DRM WMA files you have to use something like the Overdrive
transfer tool or Windows Media Player. This is because license
information needs to accompany the files so the player knows it is
alright to play them. Otherwise, the files are unplayable.

Re: Mp3directcut tutorial

2007-08-25 Thread Kenneth Suratt
MP3 Clip

MPE Clip allows you to split mp3 files into tracks. For example, to split
one MP3 file into 3 files, the first minute of the song, then the middle 45
seconds,
then the last minute of a song.

You can use it with winamp and you have to have both programs running at the
same time. Run winamp and have the song loaded, but not playing yet. Then
start
MP3 Clip. Tab to the load button and enter. This opens a typical open file
dialog, locate the the same song you loaded in winamp and press enter. Then
tab to the set button. This opens a typical save dialog, tell the program
what to call the split file and what folder to save it in. It will then add
the
track numbers automatically. For example where it wants a file name, if you
put in TestSong and you split the MP3 into 3 parts, they would become
TestSong0.mp3,
TestSong1.mp3 and so on.

Now alt tab back to winamp and start the song playing. Now alt tab back to
the MP3 Clip program. Anytime you want to split the song, enter on the grab
winamp
time button. You can do that and split the file as many times as you want.
When you're done Press control S for the start button and MP3 Clip will do
the
rest. It doesn't give you any indication it is finished, but it doesn't take
long, so wait and go check the folder where you told MP3 Clip to put the
saved
tracks.

Control tab to find the MP3Join Tab dialog and options. Enter on the set
button and this opens a typical save dialog, tell the program what to call
the
joined file and what folder to save it in. Enter on the Add file button and
continue adding all the files you wish to join. When ready, press control S
for start.

Re: Converting .asf to .mp3

2007-08-25 Thread Michael Lang
Mike, you could convert the .asf file to MP3 with Winamp, using its
diskwriter PlugIn. If you select DiskWriter as your output PlugIn,
Winamp will write the current file instead of playing it, when you
start playback. I think, you can configure the DiskWriter, so that it
writes an MP3 file, Wave is the default. Alternatively, you can use
Switch from www.nch.com.au. This is an excellent free audio and video
to audio file converter.

Wave-Out, DiskWriter and so on. If you've selected one, you can tab to

Leslie, you cannot just paste an overdrive book onto the Zen stone player.
overdrive and windows media player have to handle the transfers because the
books
are licensed to your computer for a specified period of time, usually 21 days.
if
the publisher allows, you have the option of burning a compact disc of your
book,
or transferring the book by means of the wizard to a DRM compatible player to
listen to the books from overdrive. the books may remain on a portable player
as
long as it takes for you to listen to them. if you paste from the portable

back onto your hard drive after the book has expired, no dice, you may not
listen

I've got the books in my overdrive media player. Why don't they show
 up?
Or do I have to direct them to onto my zenstone from the library site
 itself? Leslie

For DRM WMA files you have to use something like the Overdrive
transfer tool or Windows Media Player. This is because license
information needs to accompany the files so the player knows it is
alright to play them. Otherwise, the files are unplayable.

How are you copying the book over? I use the transfer wizard in the
Overdrive Media Console, and I don't have any trouble playing
  Overdrive
  books on the Zen Stone.

  What's wrong? Thanks Leslie
Now to the final great feature. This player will allow you to
  play
  DRM
Windows Media files and Audible content. When playing Audible
  content
  (Formats
2 and 3 only), and you stop playing the book and move to another
  folder,
your position within the book is retained! I think that the
  storage
  capacity of
the player, and the fact that the quality of format 3 is quite
listenable, makes the use of this format acceptable.

Moving to Marks in Studio Recorder

2007-08-25 Thread mary dole
Hi All,

I am using this program to read a large volume of material in braille.
How do I move to generic marks which I have placed in the file. I have
read the manual thoroughly, and the only command I find which seems
relevant is show marks. I tried it and found no way of moving to them.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: How to subscribe to podcasts in itunes,

2007-08-25 Thread KANE BROLIN
Sunshine:

I don't know a thing about how iTunes works with respect to Window-Eyes,
though I suspect somehow it does. I can tell you what I do in JFW 8. The
same thing works for lower versions of JFW between 5.0 and 7.1, in case
you've not upgraded.

There are three different ways I can think of to subscribe to a podcast with
the help of iTunes, using JFW. Two of them involve the Web, the third
involves using only iTunes.

In the first way, you go onto the Web--either to individual content
providers' sites or onto a podcast repository such as Podcast.net--and you
find the podcast you want. Sometimes, a site offering podcasts will allow
you to click on a subscription URL that opens in Internet Explorer,
containing XML code that you wouldn't normally care to read. But if this
happens, what you're looking at is actually the set of coded instructions
iTunes will use to define and capture the podcast you're subscribing to. If
you land on such a page with XML code on it that's a subscription page, then
type ALT+d to get to the address bar. Copy the URL of the page you're on
with CTRL+c. Then, open an iTunes window, go to the menus, and navigate to
one of the right-hand menu lists that will contain an item called SUBSCRIBE
TO PODCAST. I don't know if there is a keyboard shortcut to this, but I
have just navigated with the arrow keys until I've found it. Click on the
SUBSCRIBE TO PODCAST entry, and you will land in an edit box. Paste the URL
you've just copied into your clipboard, click the OK button, and iTunes will
then automatically find and subscribe you to the podcast.

Second: Sometimes a content provider's Web site will not have a specific
link to click on that takes you to XML code. In such cases, though, the URL
of the subscription page will be presented on the content provider's Web
page as a type of text entry that you can't click on. In such cases you
might need to go into iTunes and manually type out the URL into the
SUBSCRIBE TO PODCAST edit box rather than copying and pasting.

Third: Sometimes the podcast you're looking for will be available directly
through iTunes. If you are in the PODCASTS field, you can use your JAWS
cursor to navigate to the bottom of the screen, where you will find
something called PODCAST DIRECTORY. Left-click on this with your JAWS
cursor, which is the Numpad minus sign found directly above Numpad 8. Then,
going back to your PC cursor and navigating around with your Tab and arrow
keys, you will reach a search box. You can type the name of a podcast
provider or subject category you're interested in and hit ENTER right after
typing the search. Then, by tabbing once or twice more, you will come upon
a list of podcasts generated by the iTunes store which match your search
criterion. Entries are alphabetized, so you can scroll up and down with
arrow keys through this list. You can play these simply by highlighting one
and hitting ENTER, to see if it's something you like. If it is, you can
then return to your JAWS cursor, go to the bottom of the screen, and locate
the words SUBSCRIBE TO PODCAST. Left-click on the word SUBSCRIBE using that
Numpad Minus key again, and you will be subscribed without having to type in
or paste the URL anywhere.

I am presuming you are using Brian's scripts, or some other JAWS add-on that
makes iTunes a little accessible.

Does this help? Write back if you need more direction.
