Accessibility Interface If a screen reader is active when starting GoldWave, the program automatically changes its interface slightly to be more screen reader friendly. Screen reader mode can be switched on manually by using GoldWave Setup in the Windows Start menu and checking the Force screen reader mode box. The status visual in the Control window becomes a text box that gives the elapsed time, the current status, and the peak levels (in parentheses). The levels are reset whenever playback or recording is restarted. The levels are given in percentages, but tabbing to the text box and pressing D changes it to decibels. Pressing D again changes it back to percentages. Press R to reset the peaks. Press P to pause updates to give time for the screen reader to read it. Let's say you are using a headset with mike and you have your output set to go directly to your headset rather than your speakers. GoldWave meetering issue.
Hi Gang: Has there been a discussion with Chris, the creator of GoldWave to provide an audio alert when the input signal reaches 0 DB? Of course, that would require: 1.The ability to send the alert to a different soundcard rather than the card used for the audio recording. And, 2. The ability to turn this option off, especially, for those who are using only one sound card. Thanks. To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: pc-audio-unsubscr...@pc-audio.org

Re: Question re. the Sirius XM App
The best I can say about the Sirius XM iPhone app is that it is kind of accessible. There are 5buttons, undefined by Voiceover which get you into different categories such as on demand and favorites. I use it to play on demand programming and with a little practice that is pretty manageable. I understand that there are other apps that allow you to sign into your Sirius XM account and listen, using those alternative apps. I plan to try that when I get the chance. If you are thinking of using the app to listen to your favorite channels live, I would suggest that you add them to favorites and find them that way when you wish to listen. The app does not identify each channel by name, at least not in a manner that Voiceover can see. Instead, you will hear what song is playing on each channel as you scroll through the list. A lack of accessibility is unfortunately what I've seen for the most part, when it comes to Sirius XM online. But the app is free and they allow you a trial period on the service before committing any money. At least that is the case with Sirius and XM here in Canada. So I would give the app a try and see what you can do with it. FW: GW - v5.69 Goldwave and accessible meeters.
Hi Folks: The following is from Chris at Goldwave.com GoldWave includes a Tone Meter visual. It emits a different tone based on the amplitude. It can be configured to beep only when the amplitude is above a certain level. Press F11 and choose the Visual tab to select it or set its properties (or select a different visual to turn it off). It uses the Windows default sound card for playing the tone, so if you configure GoldWave to use a different card, that would avoid interfering with a recording. With the file loaded, press the home key and then b to mark the beginning. Press the end key and then n to mark the end. Go into the Edit menu and try the default setting for the gain. Also, you may want to just try normalizing, which often suffices. Re: Using Gain In MP3 Direct Cut
Tom, These are my steps for increasing or decreasing the gain throughout a file. First, I do Ctrl-A to select the entire file, which is the same as Rich did with marking the beginning and end of the file. Use Ctrl-G to bring up the Gain menu. You are now on a scroll bar for setting the gain level for the start of the file. By default you're on 32 of 90; I usually lower the number to something like 28 or 25 to moderately increase the gain. Tab to the next scroll bar which sets the gain for the end of the file. Set the same number for this if you want an even increase across the entire file. Press O to close the gain menu.
