The Nagra. That's the one I use. It's lovely. Nicely accessible. Yes, the Zoom H1 would fit the bill but it should be stressed it won't actually record in mono; few of the cheap end recorders do. One that might is the new Olypus LS 5 which, if I'm not mistaken, does support .mp3 at 64kbs in mono, plenty good enough for not too demanding voice recordings. I think one of the smaller Marantz offerings supports genuine mono recording too. For a microhone I'd be looking at Rode or Audio Technica, or maybe SE elctronics. Think the recorder Damon's refering to is the Nagra Airs M. this has 2, or is it 4 GB of internal memory but is a high end recorder costing five to six hundred quid if you're a humble individual buyer. Still returning to real world priced equipment, converting the two track recording to single track mono is no hassel in a sound editor. Hope that's all of some help somewere or other. RE: requesting Juice tutorial
Don't think you need one really. Control N allows you to add a podcast feed. Just paste it in. F5 checks all the feeds you've subscribed to and then starts downloading the podcasts. F6 very helpfully adjusts the download process so that you only get the top podcast from every feed when you nexzt hit F5. If you want to put all the podcasts you've downloaded, onto your mp3 player. Go to My Documents, then click on a new folder you'll see there called 'My received podcasts' and paste everything onto your mp3 player or SD card. Which High Quality portable recorder should I get?
Hi. I'm wanting to be able to make high quality recordings for broadcast and the web. I believe the way forward these days is to get a solid state recording device, is that right? I'm assuming we're talking about recorders that enable you to record onto a Flash card. Or something like that. Can anyone suggest a good model to purchase? Re: CPU usage of Sound Forge vs Goldwave
Oh and here's something off Yahoo Answers explaining how to increase your virtual memory. It's very simple, just takes a few keystrokes and costs nothing. right click on My Computer and go down to where it says Properties. You should get an informational screen with a bunch of tabs. Click on the tab that says Advanced. Where it says Performance, click on the Settings button. Click on the Advanced Tab again. Now you should see a page that has your Virtual Memory, click on the Change button. Here you can edit how much virtual memory you want. I generally recommend setting this to no more than 2 times the amount of actual memory you have. So if you have for example 512 Megs of RAM, you would put in 1024 which equals 1 Gig of Virtual Memory. Oh, by the way, this is instructions for Windows XP, - Original Message - From: Damon [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: PC audio discussion list. pc-audio@pc-audio.org Sent: Saturday, April 07, 2007 4:48 PM Subject: Re: CPU usage of Sound Forge vs Goldwave hi there. Re: cleaning up audio
you an clean up sound using Goldwave on your PC. It's free. You'd have to transfer the audio from your minidisk onto the PC. Then you copy a tiny bit of the offending background sound to the clipboard before cleaning it up. Whatever is in the clipboard gets taken out across the entire recording. So this is good for background fuzz, high pitched whines or things like that. Depending on what you've got though, it can take out some of the higher frequencies. Depends what you're after. Worth having a play with though because it costs you nothing. ...Damon - Original Message - From: carl [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Cc: PC audio discussion list. pc-audio@pc-audio.org Sent: Tuesday, March 13, 2007 10:49 PM Subject: cleaning up audio i'm looking for a program to clean up audio on recordings i make on minidisc as i like recording sounds and wud like to clean them up a bit widen the pan and filter out some top end or bottem end sound that sort of thing but whair you don't need a degree to work the thing can anyone recomend some thing pleas? skype carlf16 email [EMAIL PROTECTED] tell 01914066462 Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Sounforge jaws scripts
Hi. I've been looking online at the Snowman's scripts for SoundForge. I have jaws 5 on my computer. I'm aware it has some scripts for soundforge that came from freedom scientific. I'd like to know if they are the same ones that the snowman made? Did he make them for freedom scientific? Or are they better? I have real problems when running those freedom scientific scripts; it makes soundforge unusable and I end up having to reboot. It's ok for a while, but then windows error noises kick in and eventually jaws unloads itself. Also. I want to buy the soundforge scripts for soundforge 4.5 for jaws 5 because I have some urgent editing work to do. How does it work? Will i get them immediately from the snowman in an automated way? Or will i have to wait a few days? thanks Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

SoundForge panic please help!
Hi all, hoping someone can help me out with this rather urgent problem I've got. I'm sound editing and need to get my package in later today. I am editing quite a lot of audio and so have done that trick where you go into the special menu, done the 'treat as cut list' and 'play as cut list' things. After finishing my work I hit the 'convert to new' option and sat back expecting all the edits to take place and spit out a new perfectly edited file. But no. It did something weird. After just a few seconds it opened a new edit window and weirdly instead of having a finished edited version, what it had actually given me was a long montage of all the bits that I didn't want, all the bits I had edited out. It was a 2 minute file of all the edited out bits rather than a 20 minute finished file with those bits missing. This has never happened before. Does anyone know what happened or how I can correct it? I'm using Soundforge 4.5 and jaws 4.5 also. Your help much appreciated. ___ PC-Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] This list is a service of MosenExplosion.com. Re: an accessible IPodder
Hi, isn't there an MP3 player that also has a speech program available to run with it? I think it's called Rockbox or something? Does it work well? Rockbox, I thinkk, works with another brand of MP3 player? Any thoughts on this appreciated. That said, I'm getting on pretty well with the iPod shuffle. -Original Message- .From: Chris Skarstad[EMAIL PROTECTED] .Sent: 11/22/05 8:50:31 AM .To: PC audio discussion list. Pc-audio@pc-audio.org .Subject: Re: an accessible IPodder . .Hi Randy, .hehehe, I think you actually mean an iPod, not an iPodder. . iPodder is the now former name of one of the most popular .podcast receiving programs out there. .what you're thinking of is an mp3 player, not a device to download .podcasts, I would guess? .If it really is an iPod you're thinking of, the only one I can even .moderately recommend to you is the iPod shuffle, and even then it's so .limited in what it can do that I can't really recommend it much. .So if you're looking for a good mp3 player, and you don't want to spend a .ton of cash, try out some of the creative Muvo, spelled m u v o models. The .problem with these mp3 players is they're really cool, but once people find .out about them, the companies are coming up with new models, and someone .has to take a chance on them and hope that they're accessible. The very .best thing you can do is actually go to a store like Best buy, Circuit City .or another place that actually sells the things, and have a look at them .yourself, and see if you're even able to operate it, and ask questions .about how to transfer songs to the player. most of them are USB based, so .that sholdn't be a problem. .But in general, i would really stay away from he Apple products. . . . . . . Sonar: how do I turn the metronome off?
Hi, as the subject line says really, how do I turn the tick tick ticking of the metronome off? I'm assuming that it doesn't actually get onto the recording of the individual tracks? ...Damon ___ PC-Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
