If you run freeswitch, you could use the portaudio module to get the
output of the phone line to your sound card which should do what you
want. Freeswitch is a whole pbx, so this may be overkill for you.
You would also need an adaptor to convert your phone line to sip.

Re: Recording calls on the Iphone.

2016-11-24 Thread John Covici
There is no way to record calls on the iphone directly. There are two
possible things you can do.

1. Get an app like groundwire and get an account with a sip provider
and make and receive calls through that number and you can record.

2. There are apps which allow you to make a call and then add a call
to their servers which will record the call.

I think this has been prohibited by Apple or some such and this is why
you have to get around this.

For the ripping, use the external programs tab. If you want to use
flac, you will need to download it separately and install and put the
path to the binary in the external programs tab and specify all the
options to the flac program that you want. After the rip is done,
just don't check the hybernate checkbox and the pc will not hybernate.

hmmm, I have had no very long times with exact audio copy, except for
one cd which was never ripped successfully at all. My drive was in
the database, so it worked fine, even the accurately ripped database.

I use exact audio copy all the time to do just this. I had to fool
with the configs to get it to do flac instead of mp3, but it works
great. You might still run into cds not showing up in the database,
but that's a different program.

need high quality recording app

2016-09-02 Thread John Covici
Hi. I am in urgent need of a high quality recording app -- one where
I can have 44.100 sample rate or higher and works with voiceover on my
iphone. I have tried something called recorderplus which has the
features, but is very unfriendly to vo, you push the buttons and
sometimes nothing ahppens, amoung other things. I bought a good
external mic which uses usb audio, so for these live recordings,
which are classical music, I need something which works well. The mic
(rode xyl) has an app, but it destroys voiceover till the next reboot.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

problems using vlc

Hi. I am having a couple of problems using vlc with Window-eyes. I
don't see the time, either elapsed or total in the window while I am
playing something and if I try to jump to a specific time, I seem never
to be able to get out of that window -- there is something called enter
go, but pressing that seemingly does nothing, same with "enter cancel"

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

This I agree with absolutely, I have one of the higher end ones (p7) --
saved a bit of money buying openbox -- and I like that the base is not
overwhelming like the Bose, you really hear what was intended, depending
on the recording.

Well, play2 si set to play selection, but what was happening is that it
would play past the finish marker. Now in the manual, it says control
left bracket plays from start to finish marker, it does not say play
selection, although is not that the same thing? After I did ctrl-[ then
the f3 key did indeed play selection.

Hi. I have been using goldwave, and I tried to follow your post to set

suggested and I set the preview to -0.150. Now, I can't move the start
marker with any of the arrow keys, control left arrow or control shift
left arrow, its still in the same place -- what am I missing. I set the
view to 1 second. The right marker is way off there, I wanted to play

Does it speak the caller id number or name?

Dane Trethowan grtd...@internode.on.net wrote:

Yep I’ll give a description once I get my head around everything, still some
 things to explore.

I can tell you now that one of the things I like about the Kigaset is that
the buttons are a hard plastic and require a firm press, I don’t like those
rubber buttons and in any case, I find they don’t last too long.

The buttons trigger a very short identifiable beep when pressed, the volume
of this beep can be controlled, the beep sound is nice and short thus its not
annoying as is the case with so many phones these days for the home market.

Shortcuts are a plenty with this device, holding down the hash key locks the
phone for example, that function is a toggle and holding down the number one
key calls the voice mail service if you have one, you can define the number
 called.

there are 2 soft keys at the top which can be defined to perform different
tasks, open a list of the various VOIP providers for example so you can
scroll down to the one you want to dial out with.

Of course you have the regular features that can be set up such as dialling
plans and rules, these are set up from the built in Web Configurator.

Emne: Gigaset C610 IP VOIP Phone

The phone arrived sooner than I expected, ordered it yesterday and it
was at my door around an hour ago.

I’ve just configured the phone and the task took less time than I
thought it may, everything was clearly laid out in the support guide
provided by Internode though this phone certainly supports other VOIP
providers which either can be configured manually or are already there
in the firmware of the Gigaset, all the user need do then is to type in
the appropriate user information particular to the user.

so a brief description of the phone would seem in order.

If you’re a user of Siemen’s cordless phone systems then the design will
look perfectly familiar to you, a simple base box with a “Paging” button
on the front and a number of handsets depending on how many you
purchased with the base, in my case I have one handset though I may buy
  more in the future.

The system can handle both VOIP and PSTN calls, a maximum of 6 different
VOIP accounts from different VOIP providers can be installed and
configured, these can be used simultaneously along with the PSTN line,
the Gigaset can handle 3 parallel calls at any one time.

Users of Gigaset VOIP phone systems can set up separate Gigaset VOIP
accounts, this way all Gigaset users throughout the world an communicate
via the Gigaset network for free, handy if you know a whole bunch of
people with Gigaset phones, as for now I’m using the Nodephone VOIP
system though I do plan to configure Mynetfone, I also have my PSTN line
  connected.

Still a fair bit to do, I have to configure the answering machine - the
gigabit can support 6 answering machines - and I have to do some
tweaking but I do know at this point that I can make and receive calls
  and that’s the important thing.

Such a system as described would be incredibly useful for those who
didn’t want to muck about with a separate VOIP adapter, who just wanted
  the phone.

If you buy the Gigaset from Internet then it will come pre configured,
all the user need do is to connect the phone to their rooter.

this was because of some DRM protection but I tried again today and

   Good Morning

A while ago I decided to scrap all my music CD’s and store them onto
my computer. I now play music either from my PC or via various
portable players. I no longer posses a disc Walkman and very few CD
players, relying mostly on my PC. I never share any of my music it’s
   entirely for my own enjoyment.

As I’m a jazz fan my wife, a few years ago, bought me a collection
from Time Life of 12 double disc album called Classic Jazz. They are
wonderful and a joy to play but, unfortunately, can not be played in
the PC. This just will not recognise them which means I cannot move
them into the PC memory with the other music. I have always thought
this was because of some DRM protection but I tried again today and
I'm wondering it it’s for another reason. I wonder if i’s because of
the format or type of sic used.

would this be possible? If so does anyone have any ideas as to how I
   can overcome it, please?

   Many thanks Roger

Hello! I have had this problem before, and it all had to do with the
type of CD drive I was using. When I used my HP laptop, several CDS

Now I'm using a Dell. Recently I tried to rip tracks from the

   Hi listers,

It's been a while since I've lerked on this list, or participated for
that matter, but I actually need some help

Due to an ongoing computer crisis, I have been using my wife's laptop
which runs Windows 7 (was using XP until my 10 year old computer
finally bit the dust), and I am having a bit of a annoyance with Total
   Recorder.

Every time I open up total recorder for any reason, I find that it
will not disappear when I close it out. I have to go to the task
manager in order to totally disable it. If I don't, if I make a
transfer or copy to another drive, where a file might have been in the
process of being edited, I cannot remove the thumb drive without going
to the task manager and ending a task which should have already have
   been ended.

I am using the Kernel-mode filter driver as recommended by TR in the
installation. Could this be the cause of my situation? And, would it
be OK to run another driver instead, and would I get a different
   result from the change.

I mean, it is so easy to forget that it is still stuck open in the
task manager, although it seems to have no other function at that
stage than to be stuck there smile.

I think I had another question, but at present, I can't remember what
it was. I'm sure I'll be getting back to all of you with that one.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

   Larry

 Larry

Why not record in background then you don't have to worry about
interference from the voice, etc.

Don't know what else to tell you, except that in my Dell's IDT sound card on
Windows 7, I can go to my System Tray, Speakers/Headphones, (usually the
last item there) and I can assign which soundcard I want Jaws and other
sounds to come through individually. Maybe that could help you?

 Greetings,

Yes, I thought it might be something to do with stereo mix or what you hear,
don't know the sounds system yet in W7, strange though, during the actual
recording off the net stream, no problem with Jaws interfering. Jaws has
definitely been switched to the RealTech (onboard) system and I only hear it
through the internal RealTech (onboard) speakers.

Anyone can do a video, does not mean a thing, it may be just an idea
they have.

I have read the page and listened to the video -- mostly in other
languages -- but again, its doubtful that the device can do what it says
unless they have some new technology, so I would be extremely cautious
in case its somebody trying to just get money.

Robert Godridge rgodrid...@gmail.com wrote:

 Have you read the page?

I can see why you'd say that, but think of it. if it is what it says
and is able to do what it says it can and why should it not be able
to? it is worth sharing and telling people about.
