Re: A version of Skype that works with Win 98 SE?
Even the latest version works with Windows 98 all though it isn't officially supported. But, I believe that the later the version you use, the more memory you really do need in your system. ~Ann - Original Message - From: nick G [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: PC audio discussion list. Re: A version of Skype that works with Win 98 SE?
Here's the official word from the Skype knowledge base: Can I use Skype with Windows 98 or Windows ME? Because it hasn't been fully tested, we have not yet certified Skype for use with these operating systems. Skype may work with Windows 98 (Win98)or ME but we cannot yet guarantee compatibility. Some WinME/9x video (and possibly others) drivers tend to use 100% of processor for their needs for relatively long periods of time. This can cause the audio quality to degrade significantly. In addition, WinME/9x does not offer full unicode support, which means that some things may not display properly. Skype does not work on WinNT at the moment. We may support these platforms in the future and will make any future announcements on our website. -- Bruce Toews E-mail and MSN/Windows Messenger: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Web Site (including info on my weekly commentaries): http://www.ogts.net Info on the Best TV Show of All Time: http://www.cornergas.com On Mon, 8 Aug 2005, nick G wrote: No version of Skype worked with Win 98 SE. Yep, if you want skype to work properly, it is time for you to ditch that dinosaur of an operating system and upgrade to XP.
