PC not recognizing Muvo T-100

2008-08-27 Thread Norma A. Boge
Hi people,

I took advantage of the great price on the Creative Muvo T-100 but
I'm off to an ominous start. Simply put, I cannot get my PC to
recognize the unit. I plugged it into a USB port on the front of my
PC, but I don't see it in My Computer or Windows Explorer. Using WMP
10, pressing the sync button results in a message about the device
not being recognized or something close to that. My husband tried it
in his PC running WMP 11 with the same result. I left it plugged
into my PC overnight because I thought it might need a charge, but
this didn't help. I really hope I don't have to return this puppy
so I would appreciate suggestions.

Thanks,
Norma

Hi Norma,
Does your PC make the hardware connected sound when you connect the unit? And,
did the unit come with any extra software or drivers on a CD?

Hi James, I forgot to put that in my original message; I do not get
the device connected indicator when I plug the Muvo into the PC. (My
husband didn't get the sound either.) There was no CD with the Muvo,
it was just the unit. Thanks for your help...Norma

Hi James, it doesn't use a cable, it plugs directly into a USB port. Norma

Hi Norma,
Ah OK. Well, it sounds like a unit issue, you may have to contact them and ask
them about it. Or, you could try running a USB extention cable from the unit to
the PC instead of connecting it directly.

2008-08-27 Thread Gary G Schindler
Norma, do you have an older Dell computer? I have one where the USB port is
surrounded by plastic, and when you plug in a device it goes in vertically
instead
of my new computer that allows you to plug in devices from the front. the case
on
the Dell prohibits the muvo players from being able to completely slide into
the
port. you have to use an extension cable to get it to work!

Re: PC not recognizing Muvo T-100

2008-08-27 Thread Norma A. Boge
Hi Gary, I understand about the front USB ports. I plugged the unit
into my hub, just to check the unit, as they say not to use a hub to
transfer files, etc. I had to press it in fairly hard, but the unit
was recognized by my PC, and I am so glad it is not a problem with
the Muvo itself. So tomorrow I'm off to Radio Shack for an extension
cable. Thanks very much! Norma
