I just did some searching thru the source code in CVS and it seems
that no one has ever used "w_activatefn". I couldn't find any
discussion on this. Is this an existing callback? What does it do?
rtext seems to use it to start the text selection process, but that's

I just noticed that when you specify "white" or "#ff" in Tk on
Mac OS X, you actually get "#fefefe" for "white" and "#f5f7f7" for

correction to make things match the other platforms.
Anyone have any insight on this?

there is no such limit for a list in the strict sense.
things are different with arbitrary messages, but would you want to do
such a thing?

Hey all,

Anyone have some insight on redirecting stderr in Tcl? I looked a
bit and having found the answer yet.

You probably looked at an m_pd.h with the string patch applied,
Miller's version doesn't have A_STRING:

If you have the extended version you could try mrpeach/str to see how it
works. It was intended as a way to send any arbitrary strings of bytes
through pd without having pd try to interpret them until the appropriate
time. The atom is just a pointer to a block of memory and it
Well, golly, I just looked at the one from your archive, and odd that
you are right (ok, just a bit snide there...)
So, is this something that is intended for the Extended release?

Hello all,
I was looking over the latest version of "m_pd.h", and noticed that
there is now an "A_STRING" type. Does this mean that PD now supports
real strings? Is there any examples of this? Or is this still just in
the development stage?
Thanks,
