Yep. Nicely said, a lot of people still make that confusion:
Java is a programming language, very mature and different from javascript
which is a scripting language, after the ECMA standard (i.e.: other ecma is
actionscript, now you know why they are so similar =P)

Hello,
Im beginner in Pd, I have a little bit experience with Max/Msp, and a lot of
with Bidule.
I tryed to load-open vst plugins in Pd, but dont go...I followed the
instructions,but with no sucess.
Similarly I find many externals-instruments to Pd, but with no sucess to load
it too...
Please note this is a Linux-optimized version and it has known
pd.tk-related issues when running on a non-Linux platform (these are a
simple matter of tracking them down and cleaning them up, beyond that
most if not all of the improvements should be OS-agnostic).
Some of the abstractions still

Dear Colleagues and FOSS enthusiasts,
A friendly reminder that we have a Linux Laptop Orchestra (L2Ork) workshop at
the NYC Resistor scheduled for May 30th, 2010 as part of the ICMC2010 workshop
sessions. Please note the change in time which is 10am-4pm (ET).

-step 1: put the .dll file of your vst in the C/program files/pd/bin folders
(if you're on windows)
-step 2: use the vst~ object as documented
Use Pd-extended.
Hope it helps.

The truth is with the newest developments, scripting is of course gaining a
new meaning. By old meanings a scripting lang would have usually

Just one more thing: Much more actual reading [2], he tries to give some

Okay, that's it... I'll stop worrying about semantics for now =P

it's possible to declare vst path by using a .bat script for loading pd
containing something like this:
set VST_PATH=C:\Program Files (x86)\BergStein\Vstplugins

then is you've added pd/bin directory to the PATH environment variable,
(I don't know if pd-extended is allready doing this,)
I agree with your view, firstly let me say that my english is a bit awful
(as you can see in the previous response to this thread).
Now, I suppose you can imagine too a politically-defined concept of glue
code...?
No way, that's the issue with scripting too. Its just definitions that get

Works for me, for this release the conflict doesn't make sense. Its something
to reconsider once pd-extended is split into separate debiaqn packages.
