Same here ... I tried with 2 different usb interfaces, and I got no luck.
In both cases I got some sound input, but there is a lot of popping
sounds.

I just heard back from Rand Steiger who tried out a big patch in both the

No, of limited precision in the index:

I tried this on linux some years ago and got maybe 15% faster execution in 64
bits than 32 (on the same 64 bit machine). I didn't think to report that since
by default Pd always runs 64 bit if the underlying linux does.

Oh I see. So it's to do with the size of the array. Thanks for that.
Now, is there a workaround, other than reading the file directly from the
disk?
Best,

Also, even with the array max size of 2^24 I'm still getting the noise.

I think I have it figured out. Problem was inconsistency between the PD
sample rate and the soundfile's sample rate. Not sure how that works but it
seems to add some sort of ring modulation to the result.

But it doesn't end there. It's also an issue with phasor~. At the right
sampling rate, it works with vline~ but not with phasor. As in phasor
introduces those noises.

There seem to be a limited number of interfaces that work. And some people
