[PD] Ok, gridflow in linux but not in osx

2010-09-03 Thread Jose Luis Santorcuato
Hi all, I've finally managed to install gridflow ... hurray !
I've done on Linux Ubuntu 9.04 and
the latest official version of pd extended ... everything works fine,
unfortunately I still can not do this in osx,
hehehe, it is assumed that all there is easier, false, the problem is: when
i did the path in ubuntu i could see the pd folder, but when i like path in
osx i see a pd icon executable...gray...i cant select the pd
folder...ridiculous, any idea???

Best regard dear list... i am happy, i am a new man... hehehehe

where did you read this?
Pd-extended currently does not build Gem at all on w32, it takes the
official binary release, which includes QuickTime support.

you can easily check whether yuo do have QuickTime support if you have a
look what's printed to the pd-console when you first create a [pix_film]
object.

anyhow, the problem you probably have is, that DirectShow is able to
open the film quite well, so QuickTime is never tried.
you have to force [pix_film] to use the QuickTime backend.

[PD] FTM for PD

2010-09-03 Thread Thomas Grill
Hi all,
i'd like to ask about the current state of FTM for PD.
From looking into the SVN repo it's obvious that a considerable amount of work
has already been put into it, but it doesn't compile right away, so i'm not
sure if it's still maintained or if there's anything more fundamental missing.
For me, only the underlying FTMlib and the ftm.object and ftm.mess objects are
really required.
thanks,
gr~~~

Re: [PD] good video codec for gem+windows ?

2010-09-03 Thread stéfan piat
thanks for clarifying this

when I create pix_film I have this in the pd-console:
pix_film:: directshow support
pix_film:: quicktime support

when I open a .mov file (photo-jpeg) I have this:

[pix_filmNEW]: opening movie.mov with format 1908
Trying DirectShow
error: Unable to connect filters -2147220969
[pix_filmNEW]: ...
[pix_filmNEW]: loaded file: movie.mov with 1266 frames (720x405) at
1266.00 fps

how could i force pix_film to use Quicktime ?

Re: [PD] audio settings problem

2010-09-03 Thread Hans-Christoph Steiner

Hmm, ok, my guess is that its something with the portaudio update.
Could you file a bug report on this and I'll check on portaudio. Then
we can have a place to track all this info. As much info as possible
is good, including screenshots. To report the bug, go to Help -
report bug.

Something very strange is going on there. Do you have some audio
drivers installed, or like soundflower, or jack, or something like
that?

[PD] Arduino Mega support with Pduino

2010-09-03 Thread Hans-Christoph Steiner

So I am just coming back to trying to support the Arduino Mega. I
think the situation is improved, but not perfect. The Arduino Mega's
pin numbering mess will always make things confusing, IMHO. The
latest Firmata is included in Arduino 0019 RC2, so that's the thing to
use to test it. Here's how to get Arduino 0019 RC2:

very nice! i went back to my flock of arduinos for testing.
with the duemilanueve/328 ev'ry thing seems to work fine!
though with the Mega there's some lack in the well-behaviour that i
would like to report:

__DigitalInput
No DigitalInput on Pins 0 to 8 and 1213
Putting a physical digital input on pin 9 to 11 in pduino the state
for all these pins is always displayed on digital input 12!

__DigitalOutput
DigitalOutput only on Pin 10-13 and to get pin 13 high i've to
checkerbox pin 15 in pduino

Seems there's some kind of trouble with the Pin settings and their
represenation in pduino.

__PWM
pwm output is working on the proper Pins from Pin 2 to 10 13 -
on Pin 11 and 12 i could not get any pwm out.

__servo
servo output is working on the proper Pins from Pin 2 to 13!

__AnalogInput
Pin 0-7 giving here proper input

i'll get the nano testing within the next days also try to get my
hands dirty for some testing on OSX

if there's anything else i could help ping me up!
thanks again for this nice piece of software! to my experience so
far for pd/arduino-newbies pduino is pretty much facilitating
sensorymotor processing!

thumbs up salutis

Hans-Christoph Steiner wrote:
Now that Firmata 2.1 is released and included in Arduino 0018, we
have a new beta release for the Pduino [arduino] object. There
were lots of cleanups and fixes on test and help patch, and the
addition of symbols like input, analog, etc. to the [pinMode
( message.

http://at.or.at/hans/pd/objects.html#pduino
I tested this on a Diecimila and original Arduino. These are the
only Arduinos I have, so testing and bug reports on those are very
helpful. There are no outstanding bugs that I know of, if I hear
of no other bugs, I think this one will be the final release!
