Re: [PD] building Pd-ext/GEM for Windows
i found indeed a work-around, or better to say something that's even much more simple then i had. so for now i'm alright with the tools i have for the PIII's. it leaves open the cases of the compiling/building going wrong for Windows and/or without SSE2. if needed i'm perfectly willing to assist in testing solutions for that. iohannes, when you think it's useful i could send you the dll, maybe you can see what's wrong with it. rolf ___ Pd-list@iem.at mailing list UNSUBSCRIBE and account-management - http://lists.puredata.info/listinfo/pd-list

Re: [PD] Pd-extended 0.43.1 beta builds
This happens often on Mac OS X because the [pd META] subpatch gets obscured by the little handle for resizing. I'm thinking we can just write a script that'll move the [pd META] subpatch a couple pixels up and to the left, and it'll fix it everywhere. I'm happy to write that script. My experience with the scrolling logic is that is takes a ton of testing to make even small changes to it because there are so many edge cases that can be horribly affected. .hc On Feb 1, 2012, at 9:45 AM, Jonathan Wilkes wrote: Bug: scrollbars appear before they need to. Re: [PD] Pd-extended 0.43.1 beta builds
About the Pt_Start() crash, that seems to be related to tclpd, from my experience. Try this and see if it makes it go away: sudo rm -rf \ /Applications/Pd-0.43.1-extended-20120201.app/Contents/Resources/startup/tclpd Magic glass is great, I am bummed it languished for so long, I think Joe Sarlo wrote that in 2003. Then Ico revived it and ported it to 0.42 in pd-l2ork, and I took it from there. .hc On Wed, 2012-02-01 at 20:34 +0100, Max wrote: Am 01.02.2012 um 05:15 schrieb Hans-Christoph Steiner: At this point, the Pd-extended 0.43.1 builds are definitely beta quality. Re: [PD] OT: faster than Fourier transform
I read about this in New Scientist. It seemed interesting at first, but I am fairly sure that it is quite specific in its applications. It reminds me of the mpeg 1 layer 3 approach, which is to psychoacoustically encode the audio with less data by removing parts of the signal we don't hear. I think the application (telecoms) is more concerned with locating free radio space than accessing partials in a better way, although I may be wrong. I'm sure it will have audio applications eventually... Still the problem with any window-based FFT is that we have to get enough points (e.g. 512, 1024) before we can do the analysis, so there is always a delay (44100/1024 = ~43ms) between live input and output (latency). Much more interesting is the sliding phase vocoder (Russell Bradford, Richard Dobson, and John ffitch, 2005) where the FFT is adjusted in each sample rather than each frame, and the latency is significantly reduced. They also told me it is capable of things like FM synthesis with a live input as the carrier, although I haven't heard any examples of this (yet). Even though there's a very large number of dimensions for variation, they must have a sparse representation somewhere (in the brains... brains...) but the FFT? no way... [PD] Resonant filter using cpole~ czero~
Hi all, Here is my first attempt at making a resonant lowpass filter using cpole~ and czero~ objects. It's the first version I've made which actually sounds halfway towards what I want to achieve, which is a decent diode-ladder or transistor-ladder filter emulation. I want to make this using only vanilla objects, particularly rpole~, cpole~ etc. so that they can be ultra-portable and signal-controlled. Also, http://www.timstinchcombe.co.uk/index.php?pge=poles#diode Does anyone else have any ideas, or patches we can share? Le 2012-02-01 à 21:21:00, Hans-Christoph Steiner a écrit : Cocoa is what Apple calls their native GUI toolkit. Pd uses Tcl/Tk for the GUI, so its not Cocoa. Apple Mail is definitely Cocoa, as are basically all of the apps that Apple includes. Something like Firefox is not a Cocoa app. Pd is «half» of a Cocoa app, because on one hand Tcl/Tk on OSX is a portability layer over Cocoa, but on the other hand doesn't follow every convention specified by Cocoa, and isn't designed to let a Tcl/Tk app access every existing Cocoa feature either. __ | Mathieu BOUCHARD - téléphone : +1.514.383.3801 - Montréal, QC___ Pd-list@iem.at mailing list UNSUBSCRIBE and account-management - http://lists.puredata.info/listinfo/pd-list
