when i was giving a short Pd workshop in november there was a parallel session
in maxMSP/jitter and one of those students came up to me and was complaining
that MAX always crashed
Pd didn't.

i tried vanilla and extended on a windows box last week with asio and couldn't
get it to run with ore than 2 channels audio. tried it with a saffire and a rme
fireface. workaround: rewriting patch in max.

i've been asked by students where to download the starter drug “pd~
for Max” and i could not find it myself - i thought it is available?
It's neither here:

I'm having trouble getting it to run - there is no INSTALL
instructions, but i guess
pd~.mxo lives in /Applications/Max5/Cycling\ '74/msp-externals/
and pd~.help lives in /Applications/Max5/Cycling\ '74/msp-help/
allthough the other files are called .maxhelp, not .help

pd~ for max does not even launch Pd here.

Is there anybody else on the Pd-list who has Max5 installed on OS X

edit the audio in Max patch, with audio
interrupts, Pd is quiting of course but no pb at all to relaod it
and sounds good.
The point is that the opendialog in Max help returns the following
pathname:
hard-disk-name:/path/to/Pd
which does not work in Max -:(, just need to remove hard-disk-
great work. it's thrilling to see this evolution.
two remarks:
- you need jack osx otherwhise the app will not start on os x.
- if you go to About Pd... in the Menu you get this error:

please try #09a with pd >= 0.42 (pd~) and see if the file opens for you.
you need iemlib and a soundfile .aiff and a movie .mov with the same name, eg
bassdrum.aiff
bassdrum .mov
here Gem can't load the movie because it doesn't find the file, allthough it is
there.
verbose mode doesn't
Doesn't work here (OS 10.6) neither with Pd-extended (0.41.4), but with PD
vanilla 0.42-5 it does work.

you need to look into
/Library/QuickTime
and
~/Library/QuickTime
and remove the conflicting codecs from these folders.
(for example putting them into /Library/QuickTime_decativated/)
