[PD] Basic question about Mac Os X

2008-01-23 Thread marco trevisani

After 13 years working with Linux i have now to deal with a Mac (for
instance an iMac running 10.4.11 and pd 0.39-extended)
and all seems new

the basic question then... while i wait for a USB card (btw any
recommendation is very welcome) i was trying making
some test with PD patches but when i connect and use the line-in
built-in in the machine i have troubles getting any recognizable
sound to the dac~. It looks like the problem is with the adc~ since
osc~ to dac~ produce the sound i would expect to hear.
I put to zero the built in microphone (is there any way to mute it
completely??), and played with line in levels but nothing acceptable
is coming out.

Just to clarify, the problem seems related directly with PD, because
other applications that use line in they reproduce the sound at a
decent quality.

Any hint would be greatly appreciated...Sorry for downgrading the
level of the discussion on this list... :-)

Thank you,

ciao,
marco trevisani

[PD] problem with pd installation in Debian (pdp and mp3 stuff)

2007-02-19 Thread Marco Trevisani

really sorry for duplicated messages i had a problem with the mailer and
the first was shot... with no subject (not good for the archive)

Hi everybody,

i had to make an installation from scratch on a laptop. a clean debian,
unstable installation.

i ran into these two problems, the first one regarding PDP:

PDP INIT ERROR: pd symbol clash adding symbol pdp: new=b7d019f0 old=08244098
try loading pdp before other libraries

(i think i treid to load pdp before anything else with the same result).

the second question i checked the debian alternative repository for pdp, the
caedes one.
Is there any particular reason to pick this one rather than the official
debian? ( the number release seems to be the same).

Second problem:

all the set mp3/cast/live/streammin/streammout are reporting problem
with unresolved symbols (below the actual report from PD-shell).

any clues...?
thank you,
marco trevisani

Re: [PD] problem with pd installation in Debian (pdp and mp3 stuff)

2007-02-19 Thread marco trevisani
Thanks,

i'll redirect this question to the pd-pdp and pd-unathorized debian maintnener
to see what he thinks too.

As for the first (pdp) then it possibly would be a bug for the debian
maintener. If the pdp package appears in the unstable with pd 0.40 one could
think that pdp is built against pd0.40.

As for the second i must say that i checked the lame libraries (which btw are
available in Debian in the non-free section), and i have them. Therefore the
question is, is there a specific version needed by the mp3xxx set? Or a
specific name or dir where the mp3xx look for?

Unless this will be fixed whitin debian itself i will certainly follow your
recommendations.

 muchas gracias,
marco

 Hi everybody,

i had to make an installation from scratch on a laptop. a clean debian,
 unstable installation.

 two answers :

 * the PDP debian package you installed is old,
and not build for pd 0.40, hence these errors.
compile pdp from source from the DARCS repository :
 http://zwizwa.fartit.com/zwikizwaki.php?page=PureDataPacket

 * you're missing lame library for the mp3 objects,
and you also have to compile it from source,
as i don't know if there is a debian pakage of it,
 for licensing issues

 suerte,
 sevy

 | Yes, this works fine on not too old machines. We @GOTO10 did this
