A day or so seems quite short, it'd be the shortest convention ever. For
comparison, the one we did here in São Paulo was 8 days long :)

Likewise! (Organizer of the PdCon in Weimar)

NIME has a Steering Committee which "is responsible for guiding the 
future direction of the NIME conference. It is composed of the previous, 
current and future NIME conference chairs"

PdCon never formalized this in a similar official fashion, but the 
previous hosts were consulting the Convention in New York, so feel free 
to address us as the PdCon steering committee :D

say all that you need to do in order to make a PdCon happen is that you
organize it and call it a Pd Convention.

If you like biblical quotes "build it and they will come".

This sounds great! I would love to finally attend a PdCon, so there's

I really think two years is enough of a gap for another Pdcon - enough time for 
people to get something new together, something fresh. I think one year is too 
short a gap.

years in a row, but sure i'd personally love to see PdCons every year. But

anything else will probably happen in the center.
I know that PdCon16~ was a bit scattered around NYC, and Athens is much smaller 
than that, but transportation is not the best.


Well, herd in São Paulo it was all over the place and transportation is 
definitely worse than in NY What helps a lot with these kind of things is a 
good organization, that you guys provides us all the best information on how to 
get around, also specially made maps with detailed transportation info, etc... 
just work out good logistics with enough time in schedule to get around.
I can say we did offer a good structure, but I can also say that the hardest 
part and what's more important is to offer a well organized event.
I can add more thoughts as this thread progresses ;)

well, I'll share some thoughts as a previous organizer and someone who's
been to the 4 latest events.

I was even about to write some of this to the list, saying that anyone who
feels like organizing a convention should go for it, because, as miller
says, all it only really requires is that you call it a Pd Convention :)

We had a crazy amount of support when organizing the Pd Convention in
Brazil as we were able to pay for over 20 international flights, provide
hostel acomodation, van transportation, but I had never guaranteed any of
that, and I can say now that it was q when I said I'd do it  I was pretty
