about half of the ground between the steps and the bottom edge of the image.

The trick is to light from a low angle, via a reflector. First I tried
back light. No sucsess. Then I placed the flash at about 90 degrees.
Fidled a bit with a reflector on the opposite side, and viola.

Some camera obscura have lenses to permit larger apertures and
therefore brighter images. The use of film (or digital media),
therefore, may be a more reliable way to dsitinguish between a camera
and a camera obscura. Better yet, I suggest, if one can walk into it,
