Dear PDMLers,
I know, some of you own (or have owned) a Tokina AT-X SD 300mm/2.8
manual focus lens, the same I use. I was very pleased with it sharpness
and quality of the results - in a past, but it seems no longer... I am not
sure if my requiremnts went up so high or the lens became to

If the MZ-5n reads the film type from the film canister, then it should be
able to switch between a bias towards slides (positive) or print

Hi Roland,
I hope it reads, but using the negative film when shooting with

I wonder if this problem can be related to the mechanical

Surely it can!
I own original Pentax m42_to_K mount adaptor. I
Hi to everyone,
I can't believe it and I am very surprised - I just made today
many tests with bracketing and manual exposure correction
with my Pentax MZ-5N, Takumar SMC 300/4 lens and m42/K
adaptor (original Pentax adaptor, made in Japan). The tests
show me clearily that I MUST manually and

I had a similar problem using color negative film when I had a Z5n. Seems
as though the meter is maybe calibrated for slide film. No major problem
though, just set the ISO manually one stop faster.
Hi Bill
Probably you are right - it was just negative

If I use teleconverter, let's say 1.4x, does it improve me picture quality
in some way? Forget for now about sharpness loss, but as long as TC takes
an image that comes from the center of the lens, than magnifies it and cuts
off image that comes from corners (it
Well, thank you for the answers and explanations about TCs.
Today, I have won an auction for the PENTAX-F SMC AF-Adapter
1.7x Converter for about 100USD/Euro.
I plan to use it with my Pentax/Takumar SMC 300/4.0 screw mount.
What is quality of this 1.7x Converter? Does it belong to those cheap
Hi,
My result shows that the AF sensors of my MZ-S in average locked focus at
about 5-10mm in front of the target plate. The result agrees quite well with
the similar testing carried out in the Dec 02 issue of CAPA Magazine, using
MZ-S and FA*85/1.4 lens. Is it due to the problem of my
Can anybody show me some Webpage with pictures taken with

The 1.7x AF adapters are great. I use one with a Tokina 300 f2.8 MF to
give me a 510mm f4.5 as John Mustarde commented. It is a fantastic
set-up. You should be able to pick up one of these adapters on e-bay for
less than $100.00 USD (I think I paid $89
I am sorry, for missunderstood, I thought M as manual and I mean:
Takumar SMC 300/4 m42mount, with original tropod collar included.
No problem. That makes sense. Are you happy with this lens?
Christian,
I own it starting from yesterday. If I will do some tests - I will tell you...
Hello,
I would like to thank you (all of you) with this one letter for your opinions,
and for drawing my attention to some other lenses, non Pentax brand.
Now everything looks more clearly to me. It is always better to hear from
the owners of the lens, than to believe what producers are
Hello to everyone,
I am new to pdml, but found it very usefull - many thanks to all of you
for doing such great job!
I am passionate birdwatcher, I love Pentax system and use my MZ5N body.
Now I look for proper lens for my bird-photography. I don't need longer than

I have a Pentax K 400mm f5.6 which I may be enticed out

Does this rule work in both directions, what I man is
