by using a different raw conversion process?
(I presume it has something to do with the handling of data coming
from a sensor with Bayer array).

I guess the presence of any fluorescent light source illuminating a
scene can make color judgements
very difficult, if not impossible.
Any color shift produced by a lens (especially by a fine lens like
yours) perhaps be only measured/detected under strictly controlled
conditions.

I believe you can use the screw mechanism on K10D with an earlier firmware.

My 50-135mm failed twice (the second of which was my fault).
