I shipped my Tamron 200-500/6.3 to Siberia. US Air Mail shipping was
$40. It arrived in good condition three weeks later.
Mark,
Glad the lens made it. I'm sure you will enjoy it. BTW, were you not
taught not to gloat? :)

There. I feel
claims, even when insured, was a joke
from what I understand. Some just gave up trying to get their money.
It seems USPS, or any carrier for that matter, blames the carriers of
other countries and vice versa.

That should do it.

Damn Rob, I can't have any fun. :) The Pelican cases are waterproof,
and insecticide is mostly water..shoot, I guess I'll take your
advice.

Thanks Paul P.J.
This is modern foam, ie not from the 70's :). This is the foam that is
supplied with the case from Pelican. I figure as long as the foam does
not out gas, and I keep enough silica in the case I should be alright
for use as storage. Sure would save time. :)

The CO2 blowers I use are moisture and residue free. They have been
filtered. I wonder if the pressure might cause damage?

find very little on this subject here or elsewhere on

I'm also currently using an inexpensive anti-static sensor cleaning

Thanks John. Hope you are getting some use out of that lens. :)

Send a Email if interested.

as how Shels's auction for a A 100/2.8 is so popular, re $$$,
my choices are the Pentax D-FA, FA, and the Tamron SP 90/2.8. I'm
still looking into the Tamron.
Any input on the D-FA will be most useful.

that some non-Pentax lens are good as well. Never
really considered that until now.
AF is not a requirement. It will be used mostly for macro. Next on the
list after this purchase is a regular telephoto. :) Longer than 100mm
of course.

for this reason. I bought this lens new when it
first came out. It is now useless due to no fault of my own.

Peter,
I have a 28-70/4 that I cannot use anymore. Maybe you can use it for
parts? Just an idea. Fungus started growing on one of the back
elements. Everything else is fine on it. Don't ask me how this
happened. I have no idea.

I'm going to pickup a few more primes and keep the Pentax digital

Thanks for info. I'll look up the lens in the archive.
