We live nearby (Columbus area) and go there every couple of years.
But I did not know of that feature. Will have to look it up.
The best summer shooting there, imo, is to walk the trail around the lowest
part. (But the rangers will make you stay on the trail.)

I made an executive decision this weekend.
The closer I get to retirement the more preparation I need to do.
So I'm reducing my lens count. And I am putting a good zoom in place of the
mid-length lenses.
Today I picked up an 18-135 @ a reasonable price.
Took a walking break today and did some firs
I had one of those in my collection in the past. Integer BASIC without the
lower case mod.
Oddly enough I recently acquired another out on APUG of all places.
Also still have a RS Model 1.

I took two framings this morning.
In my typical on-the-fly approach these were shot without a tripod.
So I shot several of each and chose the sharpest.
Roughly 1/125 @ f9.
These are my blackberry bushes in the back yard.

DA18-55. Metal mount version.
F35-135. Have never had one before. Will be good to compare against the
FA28-105.
AT-X 50-250. Shot a couple shots with it. Standard Tokina cool results but

It's got the 2 strips on the door and the vertical lined grille. Plus the

Does not say RMC or SD on it.
Works quite well on the K5.
The Lower Left shot shows some of the box fuzz and the lower right shows the
locator dot on the A50/1.4.

Shot a party last night.

I've seen it done two ways.
The first is very pleasant. Just a small amount of processing can open up
shadows nicely.
But the second is quite offensive. Everything has a white outline. Yuk.
So sterile and mechanical.

No aperture ring. So I put it on macro and shot the K5 @ f22 with the

I'm wondering how many others use filters (other than UV/1A) on their
lenses?

GIII (favorite), K1000, A3000, ZX-M, Crown Graphic, Kodak 2D, Eastman 2D,
Wista 4x5, Nagaoka 4x5 (favorite), 500C, RB67, K5, *istDS, K-x
There have been a few that I've put a roll through for fun -- old Agfa a
Almost. Many cheap ones are not full USB 2.0 speed.
Though the slower ones have mostly faded to oblivion, I suspect some remain.
If you are using a desktop, a card might be the better choice.
Otherwise, your computer may detect whether or not it is operating at full
speed.

There are two things about photography that drive me.

These tell you when a company has no sense of direction.
Should have include either a compass or GPS.

Since you're going to the Royal Gorge, here's a small round trip that will
be beautiful.
A little west of there is Gunnison. From there go up the mountain to
Gunnison Pass.
(That might not be its official name, but you'll go from Gunnison to Buena
Vista
Up on top, about 11000 ft, you'll have a gre
Two questions:
1 Do people in the C, N, and F forums ever say "Pentax did that right" or
something similar? Do they say that about companies other than their own
camera mfr?
2 Do you get the pictures you like with this equipment? If not, why do you
use it? Who not get the gear that does the job?

The goal is to make the subjects look good.
If they are happy with what you have done on their behalf, that is all that
matters.
Sensitivity is good if the subject is equally sensitivity.
Otherwise second-guessing may detract from a quality product.

I'm really liking the FA35/2.
I'm going to have to try a Y1 filter for b&w mode.
But I noticed that the camera leaves b&w mode when I change lenses. Hmmm.
