Buydig.com currently has the kit for $795.89 and the body only for $698.79, both with free (presumably domestic-only) shipping. I ordered mine from them last month and all went smoothly (although it's the only time I've done business with them, so I can't really vouch for them beyond that).

PESO - NorCal Outing

2005-03-09 Thread Marco Alpert
Well, what laughingly passes for real life has finally afforded me enough time to begin looking at what I shot last Saturday on the NorCal outing. As a brand new member of the ranks of Pentax users, DSLR users and this list, I feel really lucky to have joined just in time to take part in such

Thanks! Both were taken with the FA 135mm f2.8. I'm finding it to be a bit problematic. I got more examples of the blooming that was the subject of my first post here (and not just with branches against burnt-out sky). But the bokeh was much nicer on some of the other shots as well. I'll have

Thanks Bruce. The first one was on the boardwalk just down from the hotel at the SJ History Park. The other was at the western edge of the Rosicrucian Museum grounds. And BTW, thanks for organizing the outing. What a great intro to the group. -Marco On Mar 9, 2005, at 10:27 PM, Bruce

RRS plate for *ist DS?

2005-02-28 Thread Marco Alpert
Is anyone using a Really Right Stuff mounting plate on a *ist DS, and if so, which one? Their web site lists one for the *ist D, but no mention of the DS. I gave them a call, but the person who answered didn't know if any fit the DS (they recommended that I go to DPReview and look at the

Thanks for the pointer to Kirk. They do, in fact, make a plate for the DS. (The person I talked to at RRS stated that the plate they list for the D wasn't actually designed for it, but a customer reported to them that it fit so they added it to the list.) - Marco On Feb 28, 2005, at 4:20
