Afair the *ist prices were posted here some days ago. Regarding the
*ist-D: Pentax don't know the price yet as it depends on the CCD price
which they can't influence. They told me "something around 2000 Euro"

How about the price then? :-)
But you are right, thanks for reporting to all reporters so far, it is very
interesting to read.

A little thought will answer that qestion. The sensor is behind the >mirror
and no image gets to it until the mirror is raised for exposure.
I believe it can be done with a small CCD in the pentaprism viewfinder.

The Olympus E10/E20 can show the image preview on the LCD. IIRC they use
a partially transparent mirror to realize that.
Cheers, Heiko
. AFAIK none of the digital SLR have that capability.

Feel lucky - the day I was there the cards were out :-(

The only advantage in using the LCD preview would be for cropping purposes.
Whenever I use a digital I turn off the LCD and use the viewfinder. I try
to keep power consumption to a minimum. It is not fun to try to take a
picture and have the battery disagree with you.
DSLRs do not have this opti
ed to have the camera at an awkward angle. the other
is when there is a dark filter and you can't see very well. these aren't common
situations though.
