Only accurate, if the shooter was used to the output of crap zooms then I guess
that could be their perception

They are both certainly amoung the sharper, contrastier lenses I ave
owned.

Wide opened, the 77 beats my 85/1.8D, and overall the 77 has more '3D'
look than the Nikon. So the 77 is harsh for portrait, but superb in
general.
Andy Chang took me to a Pentax store in Taipei (thanks Andy!!!) and I
got a 50/1.4 FA. After some testing, I must say this is one sharp lens

Some of my Nikons are too contrasty, so I know what you meant :)
Sometimes that's how Nikon got that 'very sharp' look, but when I
scanned the film, the resolution is somewhat disappointing - but does
not apply to all of them, though.
