I'm pretty sure it was an iPad app that was only available for Canon &
Nikon. A friend was showing it off about a year ago & at that time it
was only available for Canon, but the Nikon version was coming soon.
It was interesting, but I'll quit photography before I'll ever switch to
Canon.

That looks like a very interesting tool - basically automating the
process of creating stacks by adjusting the focus as opposed to moving
the camera. That would be a very useful feature indeed, both inthe field
and in the studio.

I seem to recall that someone on PDML does a fair bit of work with focus
stacking. It looks like Olympus latest firmware announcement for the E-M1 is
going to make this easier:
