Had some excitement in the garden this evening. Our Lab was barking madly at
something in the undergrowth. There was a rattling sound (much like the
rattlers I have seen on TV) - it turned out he had cornered a porcupine.
They are not actually aggressive but present their rear end of sharp
I've never seen those quills closeup before; boy they look vicious.
Good thing you got your dog away without incident! Porcupines are
native to Ontario too, but I've only ever seen one in a zoo.
