Lets start an aperture simulator war!
xNikon's new D7000 uses the same, (apparently), sensor as the new K-5,
has roughly equivalent specifications otherwise, (with a few extras such
as dual SD card slots), and they've put lens coupling with older, (Ai
and later), lenses back into a camera
I wouldn't pay 50 cents more for an aperture simulator.

I would. Apparent Nikon thinks a lot of their base would. Let's find
out.

Interesting concept. That would mean I could use some of that nice old nikkor
glass I've got lying around without dropping $2000 on a D700.

I bought the D300 over the D90 for exactly that feature. Nikon has a
large amount of AI glass out there and much of it wasn't available in
CPU-equipped form and the AI-S versions are usually considered to be
better performers than the AF versions of the same design (especially
the 20/2.8, 24/2.8

I would too and that would be one feature that would make me go for
the upper end over the middle to lower end models. Maybe the next body
is a Canon and if I do aperture lever surgery I'm not planning on
coming back. It would be great if it had an RFID reader to uniquely
identify the manual
