(Europeans primarily)
Does anybody know how does the warranty work in Europe for the
lens with the USA warranty. To be more specific, I am talking about
Nikon USA 5 year warranty.
Can a lens be fixed under that warranty in any of European Nikon
repair shops?
Another question, - if

regarding US distributor Nikon products outside the USA.
Same for Pentax.
The Nikon 18-200 VR lens hasn't been on the market all that long to
have reliable statistics available on its durability. If it's like
most Nikon lenses,
Regarding Pentax, Pentax USA confirmed to me that one has to ask them
for an International Waranty Card.
Of course warranty has the US validity which is one year. But it is
absolutely valid in Europe. One just has to ask Pentax USA for the
card.

I believe it is different nowadays. Used to be when the US importers were
independent companies that the US warranty was only good in the US, and the
international warranties were not honored here. Now all the big name companies
seem to own their importer/distributer themselves, so it is not so

As for the track record for Nikon 18-200 VR - it's been on the
market for about a year now. Not enough for conclusive results, but..
If there haven't been much problems observed, that's already a good sign.
