It isn't very far from London, but one of the villages we passed through looked
as though it didn't see many cars from one decade to the next. So who knows -
perhaps there is a surviving band of Catuvellauni building these things around
the trees they worship.

That has to be the oddest bus stop I've seen. Is the tree heritage listed
or something?
It'll be subject to a tree preservation order certainly. In England
that's the means of protecting trees that are of significant aesthetic
or historical importance. It's in the village of East Claydon,
