I have to admit these are tough to look at. The bike in my photo had a lovely
tribute taped to it. She seemed like an amazing woman.
Hopefully these makeshift memorials raise everyone's awareness (motorists and
cyclists alike) to share the road and ride/drive safely.

I thought such an acciddent taking the life of a cyclist should be a
rare event in your city.
I cannot even imagine someone on a bike on our inner city roads...

Problems in the suburbs too.
Think bikes and drivers on cell phones.
They are simply the worst.

I find it worse in the suburbs. Cars are going faster and they aren't used to
bikes like they are downtown.

Really weird that you posted that just now..
I photographed one yesterday here In NY - but didn't plan to post
because the background was too cluttered and it also kind of gave me the
willies -- but still I took the photograph. It was a long an
actual biking path (!) along the Hudson River
A cyclist lost her life about 10 blocks from my house last month. From all
accounts she was a lovely lady.
Cycling group's, as is custom around these parts (and many other places as
well) placed a white ghost bike on the curb near the collision as a memorial:
