I have gotten a well preserved Pentax 645 and this unit uses 6 AA
batteries. The manual mentions Ni-Cd or Alkaline batteries. I imagine
some of you 645's properly enabled people have checked if it is ok to
use NiMh? Do I have anything else to check or look? The prism and the
mirror are

I have a Pentax 645 kit on loan.
I asked the same question of the owner when I got it. He told me that
he'd never used anything but AA alkalines because even they last so
long it's just not an issue. I fitted a set of them on his
recommendation and have not had to change them yet, that was
Ok, I will then stay with the alkalines in the body. I do use the
medium format for big enlargements some of my customers requests. While
I have a K10D, for anything bigger than 16x20, I will use the 645. I
used to have a 6cm x 6cm format camera, but I sold it.

I cannot answer your question about the use of NiMH, because I have yet to try
them in my 645n.
This is because the alkaline batteries last so long in them. I recall checking
with a battery checker just about every time I use my camera after it has sat a
while and to be honest I think
