Jens - I have had the 300mm f4.5 FA for the last 13 years IIRC, and I highly recommend it. The major rap against it is the lack of tripod collar, but I've found it to be a non issue. Its easy to hand hold IMO. I've used it in all sorts of weather, from below freezing to around 100 Degrees F wi
