I had to make a similar choice recently and decided upon the FA50/1.4.
Because of my interest in available light photography, my decision was based
mainly on speed and not on cost. (Now I just need to get a 50/1.2 some
time!) I absolutely love this lens. Just astonishingly great results.
The short answer is: No, the FA 50mm f/1.4 is sharper. However, other list
members will tell you there are other characteristics to consider, most of
which are very subjective. Considering the price difference, there is
absolutely no contest. If your pockets are not deep, buy the FA 50mm
No, I don't think it's sharper, but it's probably as sharp. But
sharpness is just one parameter by which to judge a lens. The lens's
other qualities (build, bokeh, handling) might make it worth the price
for you. Be warned also that the 43 has a little barrel distortion.
