Thanks for the explanation Roland. I have been in touch with Pentax U.K. and they told me the *ist SLR should be available in the U.K. early April. Rather than buy a secondhand body will wait a few weeks for the *ist. Harry The *ist will not meter properly with K and M lenses (1976-1982) set

Thanks Alan and everyone who gave me advice on a suitable body for the Pentax prime lenses that I am in the process of purchasing. At the moment I am waiting for the *ist SLR due in April, if it is not available at that time, I will then buy a secondhand body. After reading all the advice

The most natural back-up to the *ist D, is of course the *ist. The *ist shares much of the technology used in the *ist D (autofocus, shutter, metering, P-TTL flash system). But it's not available 2nd hand. If you want a 2nd hand, then MZ-5n is a nice camera. But totally different from the *ist

I don't have a severe problem with the ZX-M and in fact would recommend to anyone looking for a low cost manual focus solution. I don't care for the plastic lens mount but it seems ok and the lack of TTL compatibility. As to the ZX-L and ZX-30 never had them. My complaint is specific to models
